Reminds me of the time my middle-school-age son and I got into building and modifying model rockets. We had the not-so-bright idea of omitting the parachute and filling the nose cone with black powder. The plan was that the engine charge intended to dislodge the nose cone and deploy the parachute would instead ignite the charge of black powder for an aerial explosion and fireball.
We didn't think about weight distribution with all the weight of black powder in the nose cone. On launch, the rocket tipped over and flew parallel to the ground for about a hundred feet and then plowed into the ground as we watched with jaws agape. We spent the next half hour or so stamping out fire in sagebrush.
