their ranking is based upon participant ans success at WPA sanctioned events.
You could be a better player than their #1 but if you don't play, you're not ranked, same for any ranking systems.
many of the top players don't play in the WPBA events or eurotour events because they pay peanuts. money based ranking is better

Man..I've seen some insults at Pia but come on. I'll lay down cash on Pia against any of you on here to win a race to 10.. Why all the hate she gets on here..IDK.. She trains hard and competes..put in the time and get the reward.
What a silly argument. Of course she would beat most of us on here, that does not mean she is the number 1 ranked chick in the world.
shasha liu, han yu, rubilen, chezka, siming chen, kristina tkach, weiwei, chou.. all of them are above pia. few of them attend WPBA or eurotour events obviously
We've kicked around the issues that come with the WPA World rankings before on the forum, and yes, they don't give a clear picture of who is the best. Like other ranking systems, they are skewed in favor of those who participate the most. This issue is not specific to pro pool. Some will recall that late in Serena Williams' career, when she had greatly cut down on the number of events played, though still just about as good as anyone, her ranking plummeted.
Nonetheless, Pia Filler is #1 in many respects. She conducts herself very professionally and with good sportsmanship and is an enduring credit to pro pool. Her Fargo puts her in the World Top 25 among women, and there is no disputing that she deserves to be counted in that elite category.
She has had a steady climb in the women's game over the past couple few years and even had a top 10 finish in the Derby City 9ball in 2025.

I don't believe in the history of any WPA list, male or female, has it ever reflected who is actually best.
You must have seen insults when you were logged in under another name, you haven't been around that long. I'd take Eric over her any day. And he doesn't have an attitude.
This year it's currently Albin Ouschan. The only thing he won recently is the 2025 World 8 Ball Championship
It's been a whole year since he won it and they NOW named him #1 ranked player. WPA rankings are laughable.
