PBS St Louis 2026 (Men’s World 8 Ball Championship, Mixed Doubles, Women’s Open, Bank Pool), 1-8 April, Half Million Prize Fund

i don't remember what poster on here that said that yapp was overrated. it was one of those guys that holds accustats as the premier tournament promoter. either way, yapp has now won multiple MR events, PBS events, the international 9b a bunch of times, and is very close to winning a world championship for almost 100k..
Yapp is, in a word, otherwordly. What a player! He is also a courteous and humble man who represents pro pool well.

For what it's worth, in a chat he and I had at the 2025 International, Mike Sigel told me that he had the highest possible respect for Yapp as a player.

What table are they playing on in St. Louis - current tournament? I heard a commentator saying it's the Predator ARC and another saying it's the Predator Apex. I thought the ARC had the gold lining pockets and the Apex had the black lining like the ones in this tournament. I note that the event description says Predator ARC is being used.

Main reason, I am asking is that the side pocket is playing much easier on these tables compared the the ARC, which I know for sure was used in Las Vegas.

They used the Apex for this event in 2022, 2023, and 2024, then switched to the ARC for 2025. The corner pockets were 4 1/4" for all 4 of those years. This year they are back to the Apex, but with 4 1/8" corners (according to commentators).

[My comment applies to the feature streaming table each year; I don't know whether the other tables in the room were all the same as that feature table each year.]

That's what I thought... that the Apex is being used with 4 1/8" corners. For some reason, one commentator keeps saying it's the Predator ARC being used.

I also saw a Facebook comment from Darren Appleton that the ARC is the perfect table guessing that he is also thinking that the ARC is being used here.

I believe the side pocket for the ARC is far too difficult with even the pros avoiding it. It should be designed more like the Apex being used in this tournament.

If someone asks me what I remember about Fu from watching this event, I would say "makes the extremely difficult shots, misses or scratches on relatively easy shots and jumps the table a lot for breaks and jump shots." She needs some fine tuning after her layoff from the game.

Oh, by the way, the camera work sucks, but I am am getting tired of saying this over and over. Maybe it's what a general audience wants to see, but as a pool player it is painful for me. Not sure if Predator management ever watches these matches on YouTube. Kudos to the commentators if they are seeing the same thing I am seeing and still being able to commentate fairly well.

Mama, the bad man is back. needs to be world #1

Watching Yapp is a treat. So often, I couldn’t recognize his pattern till the last 3-5 balls, then it was like, “what a genius“! Incredible player.

Here is a clip of the winning shot.

Great production by Predator! They may have overstated the attendance for the week but looked like great attendance today.

Very well done, Aloysius Yapp! A dominant performance, with a 10-4 win in both the semis and the final. He was, quite simply, unbeatable in the World 8ball.

To Jasmin, Yapp, Zielinski, Seo and Gorst, this week's five winners, congratulations,

The pace of this event was slow, but the last three days brought some truly memorable pool. With four events in one, Predator seems to have hit on a winning formula, and the players are making some meaningful money. Nice to see.

For me, personally, I am growing very fond of the mixed doubles events and really look forward to the next one. I always loved the Matchroom World Cup of Pool, an exciting scotch doubles event with a deep international field, but these Predator mixed doubles events have filled the void left by the sudden disappearance of the World Cup of Pool.
