Gorst vs SVB, race to 40 for 20k

Or maybe it's one of those situations where you hope you can build a brand whilst losing money with the aim of monetising it later (a pretty risky approach to business).
I think that's part of it. Collect the best players for legitimacy, have the matches on, say, YouTube (which is "free"), and build up a brand that then starts charging in one way or another via sponsorships and/or premium subscriptions, merch, memberships, tickets, etc, etc. If so, this stage is primarily market research.

I suspect we'll find out what they have planned in due time. I just hope this isn't yet another hit and run leaving the players holding the bag that the pool world has seen before.

I was replying to Kris' comment that they are going to be team mates in Mosconi Cup and they should be gambling with their potential opponents rather than each other. He said this is why we always lose. Apologies for not keeping it on topic, but I think it was a reasonable reply to their post.
You're good. Gambling against eachother will not affect their MC

who knows who is really betting what. so none of that matters. unless big numbers make you excited.
if they want to bet amongst themselves who cares.

any games you can view helps them and pool. also with sponsors getting involved.

I don't understand why they are gambling with each other when they will potentially be teammates in less than half a year at the Mosconi Cup.

They should be trying to match up with guys like Filler, Kaci, filipinos, FSR, Yapp, Shaw, Ko bros, etc.

This is why we always lose :ROFLMAO:
Money..what’s so hard to understand about that. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist lol
I don't think Shane & Fedor are the problem with your team. The problem is you don't have 3 more guys on their level.
exactly
Filler is the only one that might be a favorite. Im sure both those guys would welcome all the action they can stand from the rest

And wtf does MC have to do with this?
nothing.. and who gives a shit about the M cup when someone is putting up this kind of money. It’s just an exhibition you play for pride… not any real money.

He said the stream would be free, they weren't selling sponsorship (though the players could if they wanted), all players expenses paid, venue only seats special guests. They said fans would decide future matches. Only way I see they can make money is either fans text/call expensive number to choose next match up, or the thirty people in the venue are paying a fortune to be there. Scott seemed to be pushing their Facebook page hard, but is there really that much money in Facebook ads?

Confused by this too, seems unlikely some guys are just blowing money out of love for the game. Not sure how rich they are, suppose if they are billionaires this could be pennies to them. Or maybe it's one of those situations where you hope you can build a brand whilst losing money with the aim of monetising it later (a pretty risky approach to business).

I share your cynicism, though who knows maybe we'll be proved wrong. Scott seemed so keen to say how brilliant they are it was like he'd been inducted in a cult. Hope he doesn't get burned if it doesn't turn out like he's expecting it to
pretty hilarious to think people are racking up big on collect calls and facebook ads, especially off of pool players.

This is likely a little friendly action between a few degen whales who want to see a couple big names duke it out. US players aren't hard to reel in with a decent pay day, I would imagine airfare, r+b, and 20-25% cut of the AV to the winner is enough to get these guys to come out and play.

Scott Frost posted this challenge match announcement on Facebook today. He says this is just the beginning of a "king of the hill tour" where the winner will take on another challenger. He also says this will be streamed for free. Sounds exciting.
I did the same with Annagoni yrs ago and Ed Fugate.
Were were going to do 8 productions, but Tony couldn't stop talking.
We did only one shoot.
I think will work if the producer/production is good.

I'd be more interested in a long one pocket set. Race to 40 (or 100) 9 ball/10 ball...no thanks. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Let them play $1000 a game 10 ball until someone quits....now that would be exciting!
How about one ball one pocket for the same stake instead? :D

how about these world champs put up all of the money from their own pockets. just like i did all my life and never ever had or wanted a backer.
or to give up part of my action.

my answer to someone who wanted part of my action was usually okay but i want the same amount of your payday from your job.
