Best Playing Cue Builder

Kikel. Great cues and a spotless, squeaky clean reputation!

Really hard to imagine a better hitting cue then a Kikel. Best hitting cue that I have ever played with was a Kikel. I can understand why they are so rarely available for sale online, on the 2nd hand market. Way too expensive for me these days anyways though. Whatever the price though, it is worth it.

I'm pretty sure the ops question was which builders cues are the best playing cues...Not which cue builder is the best pool player.
I'm 99% certain based on my understanding of the English language that the title of the thread is asking which cue builder plays pool the best.

However the actual message is asking which cue builder builds the pool cue that plays the best. As if that's something knowable.

So this thread covers it all.

Obviously my cues don't play the best or I would be the best pool playing cue builder right?🤣

We all have a favorite cuemaker! Me ... Dieckman, Parrot Cue, BHQ, or Newsherintwn. But really it the cue that work for you... whether it a house stick or a $10,00 Custom cue. IT The Game 8 or 9, one pocket, straight pool... not counting 3C or snooker ... just enjoy Billiards!!!

I wrote an article on John “Jack” Madden and his cues for InsidePOOL back in the day. I’ll dig it up.
I tried calling him twice and left a message as of yet I've not received a returned phone call so it's safe to say he is busy doing other things which good for him !
I wish him much happiness whatever he's doing !
As for the article I'd really enjoy reading it , as I enjoy learning new things !

2 questions... :)

Cues that play great that are not fancy lookers...Obviously Southwest. OmegaDPK and old Schons.

Cue builders that play great?
70s - Bill Stroud
80s-Early 90s - Joe Gold
Today? Probable Jerry McWhorter and Cody Cash.
Since this is an old thread, for all I know, I’ve already answered it three times the same way. But if we’re gonna list best playing cue builders of all time (even if that wasn’t the intent of the question, there’s only one answer:

Mike Sigel (and yes, he built his high-end cues)

The next best answer would have to be World Straight Pool champion and WPA World 9-ball runner up Bobby Hunter, who makes an outstanding playing cue.

It would be difficult to consider anyone else that didn’t have an official world title in his credentials.
