Help with thoughts about pool cue? Possibly identify who made it?

Long shot, but I am curious if anyone here might know who made this cue?

If not, then I would still really appreciate any thoughts about the cue, based on these pictures.

These are not my pics, but it looks really interesting to me.

I love the BEM points, and the veneers, and the forearm look nice to me.

The rubber bumper looks like an 80's Viking style Bumper.

The wrap does not look like something that would be on a newer cue, and the ferrule looks like either Micarta, or maybe just very yellowed due to age.

Looks like a piloted 5/16x18(?) joint.

Thanks a lot for any thoughts about the cue.

That wrap reminds me of old Vikings, but the 5/16-18 and that bumper threw me. Could it be a Brunswick?
Irregardless, nice looking wand!! Love the inlay.👊🏻

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, not a Linen wrap, right? Anyways, I just thoughts the points (Birds eye maple points) looked nice, and nice colored veneers, with a nice piece of wood in the forearm.

The Yellow ferrule seems interesting to me too. Maybe Micarta? I do not know.

I am such a fool, lol. I guess the cue might still be garbage. The butt sleeve does look cheap, but I do not know.

I always loved mystery cues, but usually find out that they are nothing special.

If it weren't for that wrap...😉

Prolly. Doc would know.
I'll try.

Those are cool veneer colors, I'll say that.

Someone mentioned Viking, maybe because of the mushroom bumper. That's possible. They did have rings like that. They made cues for a number of brands but lost those records between their closure and re-opening.

I'm at Disney Springs with The Crazy Redhead. I'll be in my office tonight and have a look.

It does have a number of Viking similarity including the wrap, but since the rings in the butt sleeve do not line up, makes me think not. I do like the forearm though.

Thanks. Lol, my 1st thought was, the butt sleeve looks cheap, but the forearm looks nice. Not sure what to think of the wrap though. And, the Yellow ferrule looked interesting to me too. I mainly just thought the forearm looked really nice though. The BEM points, and veneers, and the wood that they go into. Maybe Rosewood? Not sure. Thanks.

OP.... how's the cues hits?
Does it feel/sound good?

Oh, I have no idea. I do not have the cue yet. I just hope it is not garbage. The forearm really made me think it is a quality cue though. That figure in the BEM Points, if that even means anything, lol. The veneers look nice to me too. And, the wood that the points go into looks nice to me. I just do not like the wrap, or the butt sleeve, so that makes this really confusing, on if it is a decent quality cue, or not.

Thanks a lot for your replies, and for looking into it. I hope it is not some really low quality garbage import. Thanks again.

The ''hit'' is The cue.

Garbage?

I cannot find the exact cue. It best resembles some of the Rich Q cues as far as the rings and general construction, but not the bumper so much.

Quality and value is relative.

Cues like this typically sell in the $100 to $200 range, sometimes lower or higher than that. I look for something like this in the $50 to $80 range if I am looking at it, but generally there would be a reason I would look at it, like it is identifiable.

How good is it? Play with it and see. The ferrule does not look so great, including the installation. Screw a good shaft on it and it likely plays like any other cue.

Those veneers are nice, I wonder if the points are even.

Thanks. So, the BEM points are nothing special? It was the points that really caught my attention. Sounds like they are nothing special though. I love cues that have nicely figured woods in them. Are points like that something you tend to see on really cheap cues? I feel like such a fool, lol. And, yeah, the veneers looked really nice to me. And, the bumper seemed unusual. Not the type that you would usually see on an Asian import, right? That is, if it is even original to the cue. And, the wrap? I wonder what material that might be. I am guessing not linen. I imagine it might feel like fish line, lol. Really bad.

Figured points are nice. But are they equal length and equally figured?

I have a "low end" Asian import with two beautifully figured points, while the other two pouinta barely have any figure. That's just inconsistend wood choices common to such cues.

We can see nice figure in one point on those pictures, in another point not so much. Also, the points look very uneven.

A well made cue has well matched woods in the points.

If you are curious about Rich Q, have a look at this thread. https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/history-of-rich-cues.395171/

Okay, I understand. Thanks a lot for the info. I will keep that in mind in the future.

If it is vintage, and was low quality, then I guess the odds of the cue being warped, in both the butt and the shaft are high.
