It's the end of an era for Simonis Cloth & Aramith balls 😢

Ultimate Pool and Matchroom both using the same ball suppliers and cloth now. Interesting they've both made the same moves. Wonder if it's because they are genuinely good products, or just companies offering them good financial terms. I suspect the latter, but don't really have experience of the equipment to judge it so I may be being unfair.

It's obviously all about money. The colours of the new ball set is awful. I thought they learned that lesson back in the Cyclops days..

The colors are awful but Dynaspheres are top quality balls. I have no idea about the cloth.

There is another thread on this...the ball colors suck, but the worst has got to be the cue ball...

Never thot I'd be saying this, but I like the dyna cb I bought better than any of the Aramith cbs I have.
Seems to play better.
Don't ask me how bcuz I couldn't tell you. I'm sure it has to do with personal preference, like wrap type or wood vs CF.
Gonna go out on a limb here and just say the dyna seems 'springier' when coming off an object ball, if that makes any sense. Like it holds more of the initial inertia imparted by the cue.
Wait...
Is that even a word?? Springier??
Or is that a type of Spaniel??😂😉

Both can be true and is.. they are good products and they want to invest money in the game. Isn’t that what we complain about? Manufactures not investing in the game?

very fair point, but it's hard to know what's a cash grab and what's a supplier producing a quality innovative new product when you haven't tried them yourself and pro players opinions aren't too trustworthy as they often have financial incentives to promote certain equipment. Was more curious what others experiences were (if anyone had used them).

Everything ultimate pool have touched has failed so I wouldn’t pay attention to them at all.

Clearly a sponsorship so about the money but it does not mean they can’t be better also.

have they upped their game since the cyclop skittle balls? i know they got player complaints for inconsistency at derby

Not to be uncivil, but why the heck does it matter? Every sports league in the world engages in cash grabs. And they are typically a lot more lucrative in doing it. Pool has lacked investment for years. So Matchroom does something about it and people complain.

Come now. The sport can't be all purist if it's trying to grow.

I own a few sets of Aramith and Dynasphere. Doubt you would know the difference if they were the same colors. They do feel very slightly different. The Dynaspheres seem a hair "gummier" to me, but not in a bad way. The balls of both manufacturers play true. Dynaspheres do stay cleaner.

There's no doubt Dynasphere offered more money to Matchroom to become the official balls. CBPA cloth did the same. So what? If they are high quality products, that's all that matters. And the fact that MR is generating more revenue for the sport and hopefully the players.

It's also clear Simonis and Aramith didn't want to contribute more. I understand why, from their position. They spend a lot on the game and are a big supplier to Predator. Predator was probably not going to partner with Dynasphere or CBPA.

WNT used CBPA cloth at the European Open. I didn't hear any players complain and nothing seemed out of the ordinary on the table. (I have Champion Tour on my home table and I like it as much as Simonis)

Day 1 of the UK Open, I didn't notice any issues with the new balls, either.
