Are there any resources for finding a Gold Crown other than Facebook marketplace?

Need a GC4. Nearly impossible to find one near me on FB marketplace that meets the specs I need. Are there dealers in the northeast that anyone knows about who move these frequently? Thanks.

I’d also try to contact table mechanics in your area. I don’t know who they are- Yura I know of but he is a billiard table guy in the area. Maybe he knows of pool tables too. But a good table mechanic may know of one or have one.

I’m sure any of the major table dealers on the eastern seaboard could help you with that.

I bought one a few months back. I did exactly what is suggested above. I looked for about 6 weeks before I found one and it was in Wichita, which is about 90 minutes north of me. I ended up finding it in a Facebook ad and I don't even have Facebook. While searching it sure seemed like it would have been a lot easier if I was looking in the northeast. A lot of ads for Gold Crowns in general seemed to be from there. My pockets are just under 4.5 inches.

Brown, not black. 4.5" corner or bigger (not good enough to enjoy 4.25"). That is about it.
The place i play has ten perfect 4's. Sorry, they ain't sellin'. ;) I doubt any for sale are 4.25. They came 5" corners standard. Might be a few at 4.5-4.75 tho. Hoping for certain color may hurt your search, you're gonna have to take what's avail.

Brass Tap(Rahleigh, nc) had 6 for sale at 2500 but they're probably gone. the ad was a few months ago.

I’d go to a few local rooms and get their mechanic contact info. Then call the mechanic and ask if he has any 4’s. You’ll need a mechanic for the install anyway.

GC4 in brown in the NE should be tons. Diamonds didn’t take over in the NE until a decade later.

5” pockets were standard. If you find a tighter one, 99/100 it will just have shims that you can pull off.

Beggars can’t be choosers, but the biggest issue with the 4’s with the mahogany wood finish is the bronze finish on the corner castings. They pit like hell. There was another finish I only just recently saw on a mahogany GC4. It was closer to silver than bronze. I just saw it this year in two separate rooms and it was still in perfect shape. Idk if that finish was only in later years, but if you have a choice, def get that one.

I just remembered, Amazin Billiards in Boston is moving locations as we speak. I saw some pictures of the new spot, and it looks like they are putting in Diamonds. Their old spot was all mahogany GC4's, that played amazing. (I personally played on them about one week). I have no idea if they are selling the 4's, or if that is close enough to you. ps, a few of their 4's had the score counters on the end rail, which is quite rare.

This is good advice, I bought mine from the mechanic that installed them in the pool hall new, and he pulled them to replace them with VII's.

Mine does not have bronze castings. I believe he said he originally installed it around 04, 05, 06, something like that, so definitely a later GCIV.

You work with Kim Thompson? He's really a top mech. in that area.

Search eBay by zip code 100 mile range and the search word Brunswick with your desired price range. Also call any internet listed pool table dealers within a 100 mile range of your home - this is how I found a great GC 3 six IMG_3630.jpegmonths ago

You kinda answered your own question. "Nearly impossible to find one near me on FB marketplace THAT MEETS THE SPECS I NEED." They are all over, gonna be hard to find one on a marketplace with YOUR specs. You also have 6 messages in 3 years, so you don't engage on here a lot.

His specs are just a brown one. That's like 90% of the GC4's.

Thanks guys, great advice. I will get in touch with some local rooms and mechanics and do this old school style.

Finally moving again to a house that can fit a nice 9-footer, it's been a while since I had a table / played. Really excited to get back into it. Had a nice GC1 but had to get rid of it...
