Johnny loses his mind on livestream

Any old time player/gambler knows how to deal with barkin' early on, letting it evolve was in order to stop....play pull us stakes and move on.
Bad business is what it is, if that's what occurred.
On the other hand, JA sent me his face book this past week.... a picture of his new hair cut.... that was frikin' weird for a sixty yr old youngster to post....
Then he really loved my post saying.... if you realized your in a match with a ''character'' such as this, pull up stake$ and go somewhere else, it surprised me he didn't but he appreciated my input.
Bad actions is what we'd call it.... move on.

Lost his mind is such an exaggeration. He was upset obviously from the antics coming from his opponent. By the way, why is this conversation prefaced by talking about how Archer was out of line or had just lost, etc ? If Martinez had behaved the same way against another top player, it would have been an outrage. And his behavior was outrageous. Period.

How would you feel if you were being sharked, during a big money match? Also, I would not consider a 19 year old a kid. 19 is an adult, and old enough to know how to respect people. Sharking is really messed up, in my opinion.

I didn't hear Johnny's rant, but if his opponent was deliberately, with malice aforethought, sharking him while he was at the table, Johnny should have stopped play immediately and brought it to the attention of the referee and everyone present. Addressing it in the moment gives officials a chance to deal with it. Complaining after the match, especially after a loss, just doesn't carry the same weight.

That said, sharking shouldn't be enough to derail a seasoned professional. It often seems that when a player loses, sharking suddenly becomes part of the explanation.

I remember Keith McCready playing Charlie Bryant at the Glass City Open. Keith was down on a shot when Charlie supposedly snorted. To this day, Keith says that moment cost him the match. I was there and never heard the snort, but when you're in the heat of battle, every sound and distraction can feel magnified. Plus, Hillbilly most definitely is not and never has bven on Keith's birthday cake list for reasons that shall remain private.

One thing about Earl Strickland, if someone rattles a potato chip bag in the audience, he'll stop shooting and call the railbird out for everyone to see and hear. Unfortunately, that reaction has had the opposite effect over the years. Some spectators intentionally make noise because they know they can get under Earl's skin. Once people discover your trigger, some can't resist pulling it.
 
Johnny has had a few curveballs thrown his way, some of which are unknown to the public, but I do have love for him as a friend because he never made these curveballs against him public.

About Johnny, at a Joss Turning Stone event, Keith was playing Johnny Archer, and the two of them almost got into fisticuffs about the rack. Every time Keith would rack, Johnny would walk up, look at the rack, and then say, "Nope. Do it again." Keith was getting frustrated and thought Johnny was trying to shark him.

After about a dozen or more rack attempts by Keith, they started arguing loudly. Finally, a neutral racker was appointed by Zuglan to rack the remaining match. Keith got beat, and at the end of the match, with Keith's cue case in hand, I walked over to him so he could insert his cues. But I was so upset at Keith's behavior that my emotions got the best of me, and I started crying. How embarrassing! I couldn't hold back the tears for some reason.

Johnny Archer walked over to me and shared some kind words, which I will never, ever forget. He said banter sometimes happens in matches but never take it too personal. He said he loves Keith and me both, and then he gave me a big hug. That's the Johnny Archer I know.

Get real dude. Air barreling IS disrespecting the game. He has no right to be complaining and threatening people like that.

Not sure I've seen anything confirming that stuff was said while he was shooting. Just trying to be objective, seems like everyone decided because Johnny in his rant said it that it must be true.
I've played people way under Johnny's caliber who stand up when they're getting sharked and say something about it, that would have been the time to deal with it.

To your first point, yes, I guess that I am trusting, based on how worked up Johnny was, that there was some sharking, some inappropriate and ill-timed comments, and at least some unprofessional behavior. Of course I could be wrong. Of course Johnny could be exaggerating. I just have a hard time seeing someone get that worked up while making something up out of whole cloth.

To your second point, yes, and 100% yes. Johnny would have been far better served to stand up the first time it happened and say something, with some force. "That'll be the last time you talk to me while I am at the table, before I shoot, while I shoot, or after I shoot. Don't even think about doing that again." Let the whole room hear it.

Well I highlighted this first then read the rest of your post. It's all spot on.
My response to shark moves always got an immediate invitation to escalate the situation. Starting with low volume. I call it out plain and simple. While the offer to go toe to toe is never verbalized, the attitude and posture make it evident.
The natural adrenaline is available when I get back down to shoot. Guarantee my best.
