Tips or tricks for fixing a boo-boo

Id like to fix or at least slow down the little chips in my butt finish . I was thinking a little clear fingernail polish might keep them from getting bigger.... any thoughts ?

A drop of clear just the size of the divit. Wouldn't touch it till cured or dry.
Touch up to finish is possible. Less is more.
The more you fuss with it the bigger the ugly can get.

i put sally hansen hard as nails on a schon cue around 1991. covered up dings for years. sadly the cue was stolen. on a positive note karma hit the guy pretty rough . it's going to be a pretty bad day when people in court told me they realized the "court" has indeed got a chip on their shoulder for this guy.

nail polish, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000, rubbing compound, polishing compound, mcguires ceramic, trewax.

its not perfect but i cant feel it when playing and dont mind the scar.

I have not had good luck with sending cues in for refinishing.... samsara never returned my cue so a total loss. Does the company you mentioned have a good track record?

I've not had it done myself, but plenty of people here have done it here.

Friend of mine sent a cue to Profecient for a refinish. Ended up being more than stated online. In their defense she sent it in without contacting them for a quote. I wouldn't count on getting a cue refinished for $250 at this time

a little trick i use to eliminate those chips, is to not hit the table with the butt of your cue. try it for awhile and see if it helps.

Yes, My son picked up a 1972 Joss West cue. So cheap I am embarrassed to say. It had only two small dings and other than that it was in very nice shape.
The wrap(Cortland) was saved and the whole cue looks brand new.
Proficient did an awesome job. It ended up costing $400 for the refinish.

if you want a nicer looking cue treat it better. and if it keeps chipping your finish may be substandard.

as said you can get it refinished. but if its you bumping it, that is the fix you need.

your cue is a tool and it does the same job as a hammer.

I feel i treat my cues pretty great, but you know , chip happens.

Do not. Take it to a cue maker and let them strip and re-coat it.

try a little poly and make it flat. cant do no harm especially if you will refinish. thats what is on it now.

its a playing cue its never going to stay pristine

You'd be better off sanding it down a bit and using polyurethane on it. Resand. Repeat.
Look like new.
Fingernail polish looked awful when I first tried it on mine.
