    Wang Can

More correctly "wahng tzahn". the C in Can is pronounced with a sound like a T and Z together. Put the tip of your tongue behind your two front upper teeth to make the sound. Not easy for a westerner to learn.

I worked in China for many years until recently and we sent many Chinese on foreign trips. There were never any "minders"

    China 8 ball Invitational Brackets?

Not sure if there is a direct Chinese expression for BRAVO but to say very very good, say "fei chang hou" pronounced "fay chawng how"

    China 8 ball Invitational Brackets?

Wrong again. Soccer, badminton, volley ball and table tennis are much bigger in China than pool. Maybe basketball too. Pool is really a newcomer in the last 10 years. The Chinese respect for pool and it's sublteties comes from the fact that most of the China players/fans were brought up with...

Youtube video of Jayson Shaw winning the 2010 Blackball world championship

I just watched through frame 5. The defensive battle in that frame was really interesting to me. Just watched the rest. Shaw really turned on the gas starting frame 6.

I recall that the playing surface on a 4.5 x 9 pool table is 50" x 100" or 4 inches smaller than the stated size.

Colin - I remember the Souquet/Pan exhibition well. Was upstairs at the Big Bamboo if I recall. I've got the videos of the match somewhere on one of my drives, I think. Walter

Comment above from another China basher who knows nothing about life and the economy there. Don't know about this match but I was told by a very knowledgeable source in Shanghai a couple years ago, that XiaoTing's fee for exhibitions in China was 100k rmb per day plus expenses. About $16,000 US.

What is the theory of a Bumperless cue?

I play with a bumberless Starkey conversion and had a brass insert put into to butt end to accept a cue extension like is used on snooker cues when I need it

16x20 room for 9 ft table?

I built a building for a 9' table last year that is 5m x 6m (16'5" x 19'8"). Have small tables and stools in the corners. Using std cues have never had any interference with the walls.

CM98 wrapless full splice Titlist/SW style conversion cues!!

The market value of anything is what a willing buyer will pay a willing seller. Percieved values by either party mean nothing until the offer is made and accepted and the cash changes hands.
