I recall that the playing surface on a 4.5 x 9 pool table is 50" x 100" or 4 inches smaller than the stated size.

I play with a bumberless Starkey conversion and had a brass insert put into to butt end to accept a cue extension like is used on snooker cues when I need it

I built a building for a 9' table last year that is 5m x 6m (16'5" x 19'8"). Have small tables and stools in the corners. Using std cues have never had any interference with the walls.

The market value of anything is what a willing buyer will pay a willing seller. Percieved values by either party mean nothing until the offer is made and accepted and the cash changes hands.

Chao and Wu are friends and have played each other many times both in tournaments and in casual pool room gambling games, so I think no discomfort for either. Both live in China now so see each other quite often.

Bob - Glad you found what you want. Cue is beautiful. If you are still in the buying mood, I saw a James White 6 point cue and a 2003 Southwest plain jane for sale in Shanghai yesterday.

Am staying in Xujiahui at the Ramada on Tianyaoqiao Lu. There is a small pool room about a block away. No Brunswicks but pretty good 9 foot tables with tight pockets and fast cloth.
