    Another visit with Nick

Thank you for sharing! I remember that 89 season for Nick - top of his game! I also remember the George case when seeing Nick at the 89 U S. Open 14.1 at the Palmer House hotel in Chicago.

Tougher tables did not help USA pros for 20 years

810 Bowling and Billiards franchise makes almost no attempt to have the “billiards” part of their name be meaningful inside the establishments. The billiards part of their name is just a cover for 75% of revenue coming from video games. When I lived in Fl. The franchise opened in Estero had the...

Tougher tables did not help USA pros for 20 years

Varner, Sigel, Miz, etc. Etc. Today very few if any American youth would ever spend the time these guys spent in a pool room in their teenage years - I doubt the game will ever come back here as it once existed post Hustler movie and post COM movie- UNLESS- some magic comes this way again. Any...

Tougher tables did not help USA pros for 20 years

Absolutely true - only the table next to the front desk was reserved for the best players and, many times, it had a pocket shim or 2!

Tougher tables did not help USA pros for 20 years

The Euros attend pool schools from a young age- strokes are totally honed for those that stay into their late teens. Euros play in " pool clubs" where they are highly competitive but supportive of each other and the game - so they stay with it much longer - in America, every time you walked in...

    Madman Leather Bridges

I trust this bridge more than others for cue shaft safety and as a solid bridge when shooting.

    Two Greatest Players

I wonder if sponsors now are paying expenses only or also including extra payroll cash to players- years ago the travel was mostly domestic and rooms/ etc were a much lower $ figure than it the costs today. A sponsor paying expenses to a world traveling player is already laying out big dollars.

    Custom Cue with Ivory

Thanks- they certainly won't be able to find the cue maker on my 1920's Brunswick -- He is sleeping with the elephant that contributed to his cue. !:):)

    Two Greatest Players

He lives in his in laws house, I believe, and the pool hall was being owned and run by his Korean father in law long before Jason showed up. I don't think that the guy is completely supporting himself and family with that type of in law support. it is a nice life when you can run all around the...

Porper Mushroom Tip Burnisher vs Trimmer?

The only burnishing tool that I ever use is a 3X3 leather piece- works great if you use if after each session consistently. moisten the tip edge all the way around and burnish with the leather as you turn the cue shaft.

Do you like forward or rear balanced cues?

Yes you can look at it that way - I think that my point was that I don't want the cue weight location to dictate my stroke- whether it requires more pull or push. - I like to just feel my grip hand gliding without assistance or resistance- so I prefer as much neutral balance as possible.

    Custom Cue with Ivory

Well I did not think that ivory on a 1920s cue would be banned- is there not a pre- ban period for items- or, in certain states, is any ivory considered banned from commerce?
