World Pool Championships 2025, July 21-26, Jeddah

Agreed that the other choice was also reasonable, but not better. Finding the gap that Kledio found was pretty unlikely. Accepting the eight would have required a challenging shot form the eight to the nine.

Not terribly important to decide which was the better choice, but Kledio made a very reasonable choice here, made a solid stroke, and got really unlucky.
The math may not be mathing

Just me prolly but Ali needed to take the long cut and then the combination back whenever it was. Probably gave up more opportunities to get stuck in the beginning too. Got a rock? Dynamite.

As the ref issues today showed, still some kinks WNT has to work out. Including match times. Feijin said his second match didn’t start until … 11 pm local time!

Ridiculous.
Jeremy Jones in the booth during the Kaci v. Ali match said he thought that it would be a good step forward to have the players and ref have a mini discussion before each match. If the ref had stated to both players, I must hear "extension" or "push" and will reply with "extension" or "push" after the player makes the request, the would solve this problem. In other words, the player must hear the ref's confirmation that the request was heard.

In a way, it reminds me of a few years ago when Shane Van Boening was fouled because the ref did not hear him say "extension."

I think playing short-side position on the 8-ball was a better choice…..the safety choices still leave a lot of winning options.

Biado has had an impressive, while still a bit perplexing career. I don't think he has ever been the top Filipino player, but yet he has become one of the top Filipino tourney performers. His technique is a little wonky, with his shoulder over the shot line, but he makes it work. In my mind, he's among the elite when it comes to imaginative pattern play. Still -- few mention Biado when discussing the best in the world. He really has figured out how to perform his best when the camera is on. Maybe we all need to give him a little more credit.

i heard 2-3 years ago, raga and biado were considered top dogs and equal in money games. neither one wanted to play the other one. i think he gets his respect. but he's not flashy, he's kinda boring in a way? maybe a bit like darren appleton was. not slow, not fast, very gritty/determined and super solid in percentage play. those kind of players, while feared and respected, don't get the same attention

they've showed this hot dancing female DJ doing the music two times now.. no hijab, showing belly. apparently the most famous saudi DJ. it seems they have laxed their retarded laws

100% agree. It's very strange that praise how good a tournament player Biado is and he clearly has been among the elite players for a long time now. But for some reason, whenever something like one of those long exhibition matches is happening, the usual conversation is that Biado cannot hang with the players who do them. And yet, the people who say that can never give a good reason why.

Is Gorst going to lose to a Kaci? Would be poetry. Quite possible, in m view. But Fedor is the clear fav. Kledio has to get off to a hot start.

is the big guy even there to support his brother? when kledio advanced his furthest in the US open, klenti was in casino..

Slept late because a) I didn't think Regalario had much chance vs Biado, and b) I needed the sleep. Now, I should be good for the rest of today's proceedings.

Through ten minutes of the second semifinal, Kaci does not seem overwhelmed by the size of the moment. Let's see what develops.

Really sad to see these great players playing in front of an arena that looks to be 10% full.
