US Open 08/18-23

Then I tried something else: I took my hand and covered the top half of the nine ball and watched the replay again. If it budged, it should still be apparent.

If the camera is shaking a little this method does not work either. And those are not fixed cameras.

Amaury.... Yep they are not Fixed cams, the picture always has Very slight movement.
I remember putting small post it's on the screen once to mark an exact ball position, then realized there was movement, of the overheads due to the room ventilation.

everyone and their grandma wouldve caught that wu foul. this on the other hand, was a nanometer whiff that i doubt yapp felt at all in his (imo dead feeling) cf shaft. no shadow over aloysius in my book, or his victory
the shaft material had nothing to with this. you get just as much feedback with cf as with wood. i've used a bunch of them and would never use 'dead' to describe how they feel. as to Yapp he never felt this or would have called it. The 'oscillation' was so small that even if the ref was looking towards it he could have easily missed it. this is another 'nothingburger' blown out of proportion by a few of az's keyboard warriors.

I should have been more clear. I think Fedor had every right to question Baoanon's break speed if he thinks its against the rules. But all concerns should be made directly to the ref. This is what Fedor did after the break of the first rack, and I think that's perfectly fine to do so.

What is NOT fine is what Fedor did in the clip I posted. He blatantly mocked his opponent by asking the crowd if he should soft break in such a condescending manner, and then mockingly impersonated Baoanon's break stroke. WTF?

Would he have done such display if he was playing Biado, Filler, or Shaw? Probably not. It seems to me he thinks he can get away with completely insulting his opponent if it's one of the lesser known Filipinos.

I still think Gorst is the best player in the world. But now I'll be rooting against him for the remainder of the tournament.
Just saw this on FB. I wonder if Gorst would have apologized if he had lost. But whatever, he apologized and I'm back to being a Gorst fan again. Also a Baoanan fan.

They're pretty sturdy cameras. But, regardless, why would camera movement disguise ball movement on one half of the ball but not the other half? And, if there is a reason, why couldn't camera movement be the reason the top half looked like it budged the slightest amount, rather than that a foul occurred?

This whole conversation has left me thinking the correct non-call was made.
