I'm amazed that people saw it in real time. Perhaps a TV thing? I was there in person and not a single person said a single word about a foul then or after.

It also looked to me like the nine rocked in some of these super-slo, super-close replays. Then I tried something else: I took my hand and covered the top half of the nine ball and watched the replay again. If it budged, it should still be apparent. But nothing. In fact as long as there is no shadow still dancing over the 9b there is no apparent movement of the 9b to me. But as soon as some of the shadow is visible, there is the slightest appearance of movement. Therefore, I conclude that most of what appears to be slight movement is most likely just a trick of the light/shadows. If I were a head ref, then even replay would be inconclusive to me and I would be forced to call no foul.

Let's not make this a bigger issue than it is. There is a nonzero chance that the smallest perceptible foul may have occurred. There is a much bigger chance that other non-called fouls occurred during this tournament, particularly on the outer tables. However, none of that detracts from the tournament, or from Yapp's amazing play and accomplishment.

Based on the totality of the event and the final, Yapp was a deserved winner. Maybe a foul occurred, maybe it didn’t.

Doesn’t matter now. It’s in the record book.

If somebody fouls and the other player has ball in hand with a few balls left and will be breaking for the win, it is clear that yapp may not be the deserved winner.

If he fouled, Gorst should have had the opportunity to finish that rack and then be breaking for the win. That's how close the game was, there is no DESERVED in pool

Not true. At one tournament, Marcel called a double hit foul on Skyler purely based on the cue ball movement after the shot. He called it immediately and with authority. Skyler protested, but Marcel stood his ground. And, despite CJ Wiley recreating the shot and saying Skyler didn't foul, anyone who knows basic pool ball physics knew Skyler's shot was a foul and that CJ's recreation did not replicate Skyler's shot. The fact that CJ claimed his recreation of the shot was somehow indicative of what Skyler had done demonstrates what a charlatan CJ has become.

another one of his often brought up calls, the miscue by sanjin, was theoretically/physically not necessarily wrong, but it was against the tradition of the game. miscues just aren't treated as double hits in pool. it was overzealous, but not necessarily wrong.
