Mosconi Cup 2025, Dec. 3-6, Alexandra Palace, London

Just imagine tomorrow's the last day & USA takes the first 5 games, then its a tie 8-8 and we already 5 games in & approx at 1AM in the morning, what happens next? Extend one extra day or keep playing until 6am to finish it off? Just a thought.
Don't wake me, lol.

I've said this scenario might come to play since they cut it short on day 2, and it still a possibility you know.
dream on
Not gonna happen

On this side of the pond, cue sports are relegated to ‘game’ . Europe and Asia have elevated cue sports to ‘sport status’.
American pool needs to get its act together because America will not be winning anything on a world without more foundational structure & support, which includes changing perspective.
meh... "sport" has a definition imo. Doesn't matter where in the world it's played or how hard the spectators from those regions hug the nuts of the players. Will always be a game, no different than darts

Today was very entertaining in a horror movie sort of way. The Euros are Freddie Krueger, and the U.S. players are the victims, bound to lose in every terrible manner.

Even SVB, who’s been the best US player by far, had a big boo-boo in the team game. But Sky overshadowed him twice by screwing up his faceoffs vs Alcaide, and Thorpe bungled a push out. The U.S. should have won all three team matches, but they somehow managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

This team needs a real coach. If it can’t be Johann again, gotta go with Frost. He is pissed off by what he has seen, even if he tries to hide it.

For those who say this is just an "exhibition," I say that's totally false. The MC is a real match with real emotions and a lot on the line. The money involved is just a perk. Both teams want badly to win, that is a certainty. Skyler may make light of it but his emotional investment in the MC shows when he is at the table. As for Tyler he will never forget this week for the rest of his life. His human vulnerability really came to the forefront and it was painful to watch. Shane has shown more maturity and composure than in any previous MC. He can finally shake that South Dakota Kid nickname. Shane gets the respect he deserves, even from the European crowd. They know he is special, a once in a lifetime player. Just sit back and enjoy one of the all time greats!

I don't know about you but all that "blue two ball, red three ball, green six ball and brown seven ball" got old on day one. Shame on whoever introduced that into the pool vernacular. Yes, I'm looking at you know who.

I will only add this. The MC is definitely entertaining, a great show. It's just too bad it's not more competitive. Yes, the USA is hanging on by their fingernails, but if anyone thinks this will end up close I've got a bridge I want to show you. USA did well to get a split today, 2-2.

marcel did a good job of it yesterday. this is a different guy. only seen him in open events, don't know the name. either way, refs perform different too
Totally different crowd tonight... Friday night drunks... It was rough from the very beginning. Security had to camp out in our section and eventually threw a euro fans out... They messed with the wrong lady!

Could he have went forward on the 8?

It's always different when you're looking down the pipe in person but from the screen shots I've seen he could have:

Slow rolled the CB forward
Popped it forward with an above center hit
Slightly over-spun the CB forward for one rail position, or
Popped the CB sideways with a touch of stun
Maybe played a drag shot forward...

The straight back draw would have been my last choice... but whatdda I know.

I know Matchroom/Emily want it, but IMO it's a mistake for Team USA to try and jaw with Shaw/Europe. Shaw's demeanor and playing style are PERFECT for the Mosconi Cup, and by trying to talk trash with him at the press conference/in the arena, they play right into his hands. He's way, way better at feeding off the crowd and relishing sticking a dagger in the opposing team than they are.

Sky and Billy try to give it back, but they don't have the consistency to back it up. Everyone knows they are going to make an untimely mistake, and I think deep down they know it, too. Their confidence rings hollow. Shaw and Filler can taunt, gloat, preen, etc., and everyone knows that not only will they NOT choke, but they will probably play even better because of it.

Gorst needs to be captain next year and Team USA needs to adopt a more serious, composed team persona throughout the entire event. They can't try to beat Europe at their own game on the mental side of things because USA literally has zero players who can go toe-to-toe with Shaw and Filler in terms of skill + bravado.

And honestly, I think Styer trying to call out the Europeans over Filler being left off in 2024 has actually made him more uncomfortable during this event than he would have been otherwise. He's not a trash-talking guy, but he tried to force it, came across somewhat poorly/was refuted by Jayson, and has been in his head ever since.
