Congratulations

Raymond once told me that he hardened Peter, when his grandson was a young lad. "We'd play 30 points, and I'd let him get to 27 or 28 and kept him there as long as I could. You need to be able to deal with frustration in this game, and those practice matches where I beat him 30-29 helped. And when he complained, I sometimes beat him 30-5, to send a message. Now he can take anything you throw at him. I've been proud of him all his life."

Bert, thanks for the tidbit on how Raymond toughened up his grandson.

Do you happen to know how tall Peter is and more importantly, if he plays with a longer than standard-length cue?

I think he's 1.94, I may be off by a centimeter. As for the cue: not that I know of. The fact that 1.94 guys and 1.62 guys play with - just about - the same length cue is one of the mysteries in our sport.

Back in the day there was a very good player, Laurent Boulanger he was at least 6'7"-6'-9"!

He cupped his hand around the bottom of the butt!

Could be almost anything, right?

That's why billiards is art.

Boulanger played with a 140 cm cue, his 'Grip hand' was wrapped around the complete butt end of the cue!

Just like with smaller pistols, one with larger hands the last fingers 'wrap around' the bottom of the grip!
