The Wonderful World Of Billiards , Snooker , Pool etc !

Agreed. Hopefully with that monkey off his back he can kick on and win some more. He's one of my favourite players to watch, but prior to this I found it hard to get behind him in a final because of his bottle. Difference in the final was his long potting. Judd's long game was pretty dire- maybe the new cue? Hopefully they can both get on a roll now and be playing their A-game come the world championships. Trump vs Lisowski in a best of 35 could be epic, although Jack needs a few good runs before then to guarantee qualification.

sometimes the monkey leaves the back too late. i guess we'll see. fun player.

Bola Sete: The Musician Behind the Name

Bola Sete, born Djalma de Andrade, was a prominent Brazilian guitarist known for his contributions to jazz, bossa nova, and samba. His nickname "Bola Sete" translates to "Seven Ball" in Portuguese, which he received due to being the only black member of a small jazz group. The name references the seven ball in Brazilian billiards, which is the only black ball on the table.

No, the World Championship is not going to Saudi Arabia

The long saga over the future of the Crucible will soon be at an end

I guess "soon" is a relative term. WST has spoken.

The contract with the Crucible has been extended to at least 2045. 500 seats will be added. There's probably a press release somewhere.

With the Snooker World Championships currently on, it’s clear how different the game is today compared to back then
😂

Back then the World Snooker Championship looked less like elite sport and more like a mens working club on a Sunday afternoon. One lad’s lining up a tricky red… the other’s got a pint in hand, fag on the go, barely even breaking stride.

You’d have players like Alex Higgins and Bill Werbeniuk treating the mid-session interval like a full pub stop. Higgins chain-smoking between shots, Werbeniuk famously needing a few pints just to steady himself enough to play. No sports science team, no hydration strategy — just lager and instinct.

And the mad thing is, the standard was still ridiculous. Proper matchplay, big breaks, nerves of steel… just with a side of second-hand smoke and the occasional top-up.

Try imagining that now. Modern players measuring water intake to the millilitre, nutrition plans, fitness coaches… meanwhile in the 80s someone’s knocking in a 70 break while holding a cigarette .
