Playing Pool after 50?

We didn't get to see legg in VA but I did see him a few times in glen burnie, though I usually got played pretty quickly in there
Yea they played in glen burnie. We probably ran into each other at some point although I mostly played bar tables around Baltimore
Spent time at Don Gibsons bar in the city. Kenn-Tenn

If you look at current pro carom billiards players, lots are 50-ish plus.

Just peeked at the top 10 and at least 6 are 50 or older.
I'll be 81 in June, about 8 years ago (at 73) not having a 3C table within 165 miles in any direction, I started playing 3C (with the CB, 1ball & 3 ball) on a GC 5'x10' Pool table.

After playing on it for a couple of months, I ran a (13) 3 cushion on that table!

They had a plaque put up on the wall next to the table!

BTW, Were You at the room in Glen Burnie about 13 years ago when I put on a 3C Clinic?

Clinic: no. I can't recall there being a 3c table there...though it was not exactly my stomping grounds, ever.

The room I referred to was closed before the clinic and the one you were at is prob closed now.

Do you remember member the name?

Clinic 13 yr ago?!? Sounds like you're still putting one on, with that pool table run.

Of course I play it on my diamond. Lots of 5 and below, but I've started playing 3c with 4 balls and both players use same cb.

What do you do when the balls get pocketed? I put them in the center line of the level they go in (head/ foot/ middle)?

Spot in the middle of table!

A 'Scratch' ends inning!

It's More difficult than some can imagine, 6 obstacles to avoid!

A person needs a very varied 'Shot Selection Knowledge'!

A more difficult game is 'Pin 3C Billiards' (5-point games) on Reg 3C table!

Played with a 3" Bowling Pin!

Can you recite something within the geographical borders of the USA? And if anyone was really worried about this
happening in your locale, get off your ass and apply for your CCW, presuming it is even needed in your state to pack.
If there was exploding pool balls being used by terrorists in Zanzibar, would you quit going to pool rooms in the USA?

50?!

Hell, I have stuff in my refrigerator older than that! 😁

I'm 67 and my wife and I are remodeling right now to put in a new Diamond.

There are 4 people on our pool team older than me too. The oldest is 83, still plays a pretty damn sporty game and he's nowhere near the oldest player in the league...
I’ll be 70 in June. I’ll have a room in the house soon for a Peter Vitalie table that I bought. I’m having the rails extended for 4 1/8” corners.

I’ll be 79 in July. Both shoulders have had rotator cuff surgery, eyesight is a major problem since my dominant eye decided to quit working. I do have a home table that I wanted bad enough to build an addition on the house just to guarantee enough room for a 9’ table. I play in a couple of leagues twice a week. The main difference now is that when I was younger I could make any shot, but position was sketchy after the shot. Now, I always have position after the shot, but occasionally miss even easy shots . It’s much harder to keep focus now, but same days are better than others. I have more fun playing now than I ever had before. I love being around all the young people in the leagues, and I still managed an undefeated session last year. I’ve never been a great player, like some on here, (yes, I’m envious) but I have been pretty good fo a long time, and I am thankful to still love the game. If I had to make one comment about aging, and pool, it would be that your strengths change, and enjoy the benefits of experience.

I'll be 73 in July and good for about 3 hours of play. In the 1.5 years that I've been back playing I'm really enjoying it and have upped my shot making, banking and kicking.
Our local Saturday night tournaments begin at 7:00, and whenever I make it to the final rounds it's usually pushing 1:00 or later. At that point I'm playing better than I was in the earlier rounds, and could probably make it another hour if necessary. Adrenaline is a powerful stimulant.

BUT...at 81 there's no way I could ever get out and play much before 3:00 in the afternoon. The older I get, the less of a "morning person" I become. Mornings are for reading and practicing on my home table for a few minutes at a time, not for driving 45 minutes and playing against serious competition.

As far as I am aware it illegal to carry where alcohol is served. I also believe there was a thread on this very forum about a shooting in a pool hall right here in America. Are the following enough for now or do you require more? This is much more effort than I was planning to put into a tongue in cheek comment.

Tough thumbs-up!

Doesn't look like a 70-year-old stroke to me! But I know a couple of 70+ players with really good games. Maybe we need to redefine how we think about that. Matlock seems to drag himself around the table pretty well still.
My 'Ease of Stroke' has been a Key Element of my 3C game since the first year (63) I started!

I get the Most amount of effect, from the least amount of effort/force!

With just one eye for the last 6 years, I've only been to a PR twice since 2019!

Believe it or not, I still have 90% of my stroke, I just don't have any depth perception!
