Hacks for stopping weight bolts from rattling in the cue?

My Schmelke is drilled for weight bolts but the problem is that the weight bolts are causing a very unpleasant noise and sensation when I hit the cue ball. The same applies to the bumper. What I can I do to ensure a tighter fit that lasts? I tried Teflon tape / plumbers tape and that works well, but doesn't last very long before it starts to fray and the noise returns. I tried silicone sealant but somehow all it seemed to do was lubricate the weight bolts lol.

Any other job permanent ideas? Thanks!

Since the Teflon tape doesn't seem to work , what about adding more of it gradually from the start of the threads back towards the head if the weight bolt ? Or some liquid nail around the head of the weight bolt but remember where it stops is where it will stay or hopefully so .

In other words there's a chance that you won't be able to remove it at a later date or time .
These are some ideas I thought of that may help , or send it back to Schmelke for them to remedy the problem .

I've been doing this since 1983!

Most cues have a 'Bolt Hole' between 3"-12", I first measure how deep the hole is and where I want the bolt to be!
Then I take cotton balls that I tear apart and push them into the hole while I keep measuring to the point where I want the front end of the 'Setscrew', tighten it up against the cotton balls. Fill the rest of the hole up with the CB's to the end and place the bumper on!

Cuts down dramatically on the 'Vibration' of the cue!

BTW, in order to 'Remove' the CB's get a wire a little thinner than a coat hanger, form a little 'Hook' or glue a screw on the end of the wire!

Gorilla glue. 😁

Turn the butt upside down. Pour in Turtle Wax. Use ZipWax car wash & wax solvent. Leave it in for 8 hours or so, or even overnight. It will swell the wood in the butt. Pour it all out and let it all drip out and air dry. Screw the bolt in and see if it has stopped the bolt from rattling.

This is assuming it is indeed the weight bolt and not something else.

I’ve done this with loose fitting wood pins on carom cues and it does work.. I would stay away from permanent glues and sealers as you might want to change the weight bolt at some point.

If silicone caulk didn't work you didn't use enough, or you didn't put it on the wood threads down where the weight bolt bottoms out. Get yourself some of those wok sticks or skinny straw or something like that and put a bunch of silicone on it and stick it down to where the weight bolt bottoms out and smear it on the threads, then put the weight bolt in.
You should have no more rattle.

IMPO, it's why the cotton balls are the Bomb!

It adds NO weight, and all the cues I've done this to has made the cue 'Hit/Feel' more Solid!

Teflon tape is a lubricant, hence the name Teflon in it. It works on pipe threads because it allows you to make the fitting tighter to prevent leaks. Automotive RTV will work great for that, it will hold the bolt in place and will not loosen up until you want to loosen it. If the threads are in wood Loctite wont work, I wouldn't use Loctite anyways, seems a little overkill for a pool cue. If you want to try some thread locker use nail polish, any color should work, it works just like Loctite but its not as strong, it reduces the risk of damage.
