I love watching these matches. It's a different animal from the tight pocket 9 ft table Matchroom events. Totally different energy. It's great that we have both to entertain us.

Another weird one from Iowa they missed was between Styer and Bergman. Bergman played a pretty dead combo and forgot to call it. Ref called the loss of turn. Tyler, trying to be a gentleman, just tapped the cue ball to give Justin back the shot. That should have been loss of rack. Tyler didn’t even realize he had the “option” to let Justin keep playing since he made a ball he didn’t call. No need to give up BIH. Weird things happen in the arena!
So was Demarco wrong or was the ref wrong? BTW, I just watched the Junior finals, and you were great on the commentary.
Demarco was mistaken. The ref told me later that this is exactly one of the reasons they started doing the 10 ball showdown, so they could all get used to the subtleties of 10-ball before the Grand Finals. They NEVER play it or referee it over seas. Did you catch the time Joven made the 10 on the break and had to remind the ref to spot it?
And I LOVE commentating for the Juniors. This time was fun because Hayden is a monster and Cohen is an unknown little champ!! The whole event was great except for Skyler beating me out of both tournaments. Little POS...
I heard someone this weekend say they hated the format. The person he was complaining to said "I guess that's why restaurants have menus..."
I love the format because, even though there are still favorites, the matches are winnable for anyone who can break well, pocket balls proficiently, and keep their nerves in check! I also love the big table events with the tight pockets because it's incredible how accurate the top players are, but the UP is definitely my jam!
I made a tactical error in hindsight. I think I should have accepted a longer last shot so I'd at least have a couple seconds to shoot it. I got a little greedy and by the time it stopped I had to basically throw the cue at it. It's tough to think straight in the moment.
All this talk of rules, I'm still a bit confused how so many people and refs still don't understand double hit fouls, no one called this out, the ref, commentators, only 1 person on chat even mentioned it, and its clearly a double hit foul by Oscar (starts at 55:15)
When the replay shows the overhead its even more obvious, you can clearly see the tangent line is between the 13 and the side pocket. And for those who may think its frozen, its a foul in UPL to hit into a frozen ball. This stuff is pretty basic physics, and you'd think common knowledge, but we keep having these obvious double hits right in front of refs not get called out, and to make it worse when you have a ref who does know what he's doing, like when Marcel called a similar foul on Sky a year or 2 ago, you have people like CJ making videos about how it wasn't a foul because his cue was elevated and the cue ball spun back (after going forward)....
