Hi Lou! Mostly in NPR I guess.
Not very fancy. Looks like straight grain w no birds eye or curly grain whatsoever. Piece of commercial grade maple. But what do I know.
And my phone doesn't develop pics the best either, so perhaps I'm missing something.
This isn't one, but George Balabushka preferred straight-grain maple for his forearms.
Interesting. The one i have is a bit more figured.

Coring was not done back then and straight-grain maple is a lot more stable/strong than highly figure BE.
When I bought my ADAM HOF cue I made sure I got one with straight-grain maple and no signature on it.
