I'm sometimes floored by how awful the money is in pro pool.
In a field this large and deep, a guy has to play incredibly well to even offset costs. I've mentioned this one time prior (and I know that sponsors can help, which I doubt this guy has), but to make the top 128 gets you back approximately the entry fee. The top 64 make a lousy $1,000. To win anything worth considering income you have to make the quarter-finals ($7,150). Sure, making $4,000 for 9/16 sounds reasonable, but after costs, that's jack squat.
With that said, I'd be thrilled to cash. Not for the money but for getting through Round One and having some bragging rights.

I'm surprised at how many notable matchups he's getting. He got Thorsten Hohmann first round in a 3-9 loss. Pretty lucky, given he should be often drawing less notable opponents in the 700-780 range and still getting crushed.

The Pruitt that I find in Fargo is Mike, not Michael, but if that is him then he is a 590 from Brooklyn, NY.
So he played a bit below 700 speed? Seems like a good showing for him if he was a true 650 when he started.

Several years ago we had a poster on here who was convinced he could get to pro speed in a year...I think he ended up quitting the whole sport. Anyone remember him, I cant for the life of me remember his handle...
I think we've had 3-4 in the past 20 years on here. They always come and go and don't stick around.
I'm a 570 now and was probably about 540 speed 25 years ago when this was said to me. The local hotshot (has since quit long before Fargo, would prob have been a 700 in his prime then). He says to me when I was asking about speeds: "I was your speed for about 2 weeks".
It looks to me like it's going down the way it's supposed to go down. Cashing if he gets a great draw, and winning a handful of game against a legit pro.
Now the question is can he improve from this, or is he at his genetic potential. (if you believe in such things).
