Used to be a big event that drew a lot of top players.

What’s the point of running the Texas open at the same time?

Nice to see an event with normal cloth and ball colors and rules. God bless Zuglan
I don’t know, I like the gray.
When they moved from green to blue, many didn’t like it either, just need to get used to things.

Not sure that getting stuck in the past is also a good thing…

You know, your posts often have a theme. Be it CF shafts, be it cloth colors. Here’s the thing, you like these things, GREAT!
You want to embrace them, GREAT!
Yet you can’t resist the need to tell others that they need to embrace them, not so great You do you, let others do the same.

Not too many top pros here anymore. I think they feel naked now without a jump cue and a magic rack. For me, I enjoy nine ball with Mike’s rules - the safe and kicking game is a bit more enjoyable than a jump fest. You have to know the rails.

Moritz is a very impressive player in all aspects of the game.

china open is going on at the same time, paying 40k for first. texas open is also concurrent, paying 18k for first + calcutta. there's also a california event, i don't know the pay for that

We took the ride up on Saturday and watched a bunch of matches throughout the day. Dylan Spohr continues to do better every year in this, and he got a couple good breaks to make it to Sunday morning. Also watched Rachel Lang play, and it seemed like she just had a bad match, then caught Jason on the B side to end her tournament. Most of the local players from leagues that I play in didn't make it past Friday, so didn't get to see them play this time. I did talk with Stu for a little while, which is always a good thing. Also said hi to Upstate Al, and he's also a fun guy to BS with for a while.

I know this tournament got a little questionable for continuing in the current venue, but I hope Mike gets those kinks worked out. It's really the only big tournament that I go to, and we usually make a full day of it, watching pool, some gambling, and a nice dinner, all within about 90 minutes from home.
