Pay Pal is a Piece of Crap

Ok, there's the Supply Side and the Consumers.

Consumers save coinage to trade for stuff that Supply Side thoughtfully thunk up that Consumers would like, want, need.
Supply Side in actuality just wants coinage and has no other use for Consumers. Towards that end, Supply Side uses a forbidden art from the realms of Dark Math known as Dark Algebra.
This unholiest of maths transforms coinage used in trades to be drawn into the coinage rooms of Supply Side where it remains and grows to ungodly proportions.

PayPal owns Venmo too.
I've used both, but have stopped using PayPal if I have another option. I pay the weekly fees for two APA teams to our league operator using Venmo, and a couple of the players pay me if they play that night using Venmo.....so far, so good.

Had a co-worker go through a bad experience with PayPal a long time ago, she was the seller and her linked checking account was frozen while they did their investigation. It wasn't a very fast investigation. From that point, I always had a completely separate checking account that I linked to these services, and only keep a bare minimum balance in that account. It's easy enough to transfer from a different account to that one via electronic banking, no fees, so I fund the account with enough to cover any transactions and that's it. I don't know if that really protects me from anything, aside from in my mind, but it's been working for me.

PayPal billed my checking account without my knowledge. I sold a cue on eBay and used Paypal to have UPS ship the cue in a round tube. Nothing on UPS website then mentioned extra charge for tube. Later, UPS notifies PayPal, doubles the original shipping fee, and deducts the extra from my checking account without notifying me.

Round tubes are taboo. Any excuse to bump up $$. UPS is good for upping fees after delivery. Off topic try calling UPS customer service. If you do not get left on hold you'll a piss poor agent that speaks piss poor English. They suck big time.

Yes, exactly. That's why I keep my linked account at an absolute minimum balance.
I remember talking with the bank about my second checking account, and what I wanted it for. I made it clear that no outside action would ever be able to impact any other account, or ever be able to cause fees or penalties that would fall back on me. Bank rep that helped me set it up understood exactly what I was trying to do. So far that kind of thing has never happened (kiss of death actually writing that) and I hope the bank lives up to their word if that ever does happen.

The process has been ongoing for 3 ,moths now and they don't show anything in my profile just that a case has been filed. Everytime i call them i get a different answer. The first person i talked too said they would send me a mailing label to resend what the seller sent. The next person 2 weeks later said , i would have a decision on the 15th, i called on the 15th and was told the case was closed in my favor and i will receive and email and the money in 5 business days. None of this ever happened. today the guy i talked too said that they will have an answer by the 25th and would only do the refund if seller refunded the money.

I have not received emails or updates in my pay pal account sor email since i first filed , these people in the Philippines only know what they read in the computer in front of them, they lie to get you off of the phone

It may have something to do with dealing with China
Did you pay via Friends and Family or Goods and Services in PayPal?

I have two PayPal accounts, one business, one personal.

The linked bank accounts are set to automatically sweep funds into other accounts automatically.

My business account is my revenue stream and that automation keeps the money flowing to interest bearing accounts.

The accounts are checked every day by myself and my bookkeeper. Reports are prepared and sent to me weekly by my bookkeeper, and monthly to my CPA.

It's also known as rippingofthecustomerism...
Who in their right mind is gonna make the investment they did without that entitlement?!?!

Pay Pal only offers buyer protection if the seller refunds the money to them. I've used pay pal for 20 years now i'm done. Pay Pal is owned by ebay, which is in bankruptcy .. I'm not sure any other pay service offer fraud protection, hopefully my credit card company will
I have had to use PayPal on 3 eBay auctions in the last 45 days with non-receipt on one item and not as described on the other two. The PayPal process requires to include photographic proof which I did except for one. I got a refund on all three within a week. Prior to that, I have 20 years of PayPal Protection I’ve used and always gotten a refund……I insist on using it.

I don't want to be hooked to any "service" that can access my bank accounts!

those others are good if receiving money, as you get it and its yours.

sending to a stranger, credit card is the only real protection you have.

pay pal only with a credit card , gives you double protection sending money.

plus with credit card you get like 2% or more back with the right cards on all purchases.

Zelle... there is zero recourse... once sent it's not reversible unless the receiver sends it back. Payment cannot be disputed...payment cannot be held up. Only send it to someone you know/trust.

I had a dispute that paypal ruled against me in spite of proof of the dispute
Amex ruled in my favor and refunded the money due me
