Dynaspheres and WNT Launch Major Partnership as the New Balls of the Tour

Wasn't the original reason to change colors that the 90s TVs couldn't really display enough colours? With modern TVs and monitors it shouldn't be necessary anymore. Changing colours for a good reason, such as making it easier for the colourblind are a good idea, but what is going on today is mainly marketing and the desire of the sponsors to stand out. I'm OK with all this as long as it's making sense and doesn't confuse players. For me, the purple 5 ruined watching certain matches now. We play with centennials and the aramith sets with the pink 4 and orange 5.
Thank god the guys in our club are too cheap to buy a new set when some company introduces a new set, maybe next time with a purple 7. Or an pale peach 5.
I wonder why nobody ever thought of grey scales. the darker, the higher the number.
Streaming is of less quality of the high definition monitors we have today. It's needed more than ever.
I find that the current colors are making it easier to identify the balls.

I have a slight bit of understanding why they may want to change the colors of the pool balls for the sake of the TV viewing public however why can't they adapt the camera's to get a better quality picture of the table and the balls ?

Granted my experience as a camera op has been motocross and rodeo events but still the camera lens needed to be focused for changing light conditions when shooting a outdoor event .

My question is why not do that for pool matches and leave to color of the pool balls as a standard to reduce any potential confusion for the players along with the viewers at home ?
Voice of reason among the madness!!😉

Lol I like them but I’m not like the closed minded people that seem to be on this forum that freak out. Serious someone said they couldn’t figure out the lay out? I’m of average intelligence and with a rack I would see the color of the balls with corresponding number. It’s not that hard lol people acting like it’s the end of the world.

They are spending money as a sponsor . Of course they are going to use a set that sticks out.

They aren’t using that cue ball with the logo on it for play.
What a buzz kill.😉

I get you, and yes, go to the money, sponsor, or wherever the revenue flow is legit.;) ...you know what I mean... The however is, and I guess I can only speak for myself, after playing pool since the late 60's (old fart) I scan the table and don't usually look at the numbers, especially in 8 ball, and that solid nine would surely get me.

I understand wanting to make TV a better medium especially for revenue, for a while they even tried following hockey pucks with a 'halo'; that didn't work out. I suppose with some use I could get used to the new colors but it does mess with my head, no Alzheimer's yet - that I remember:ROFLMAO:. BUT to me an orange 5 Ball is mandatory, JMHO.
I hear the ghost of Fatboy past.😁👍🏻

I agree. Of course, players don't search for the numbers on the balls when playing pool. Today the commentators are adding color names with the balls to familiarize the public with their number. I wonder if they'll say "sky blue 2" or "light blue 2" instead of "blue 2."
How 'bout "lovely trimmed in robin's egg blue 2??" 🤦🏻‍♂️
I'm glad most pros have eagle eyes. They're gonna need 'em.
