    Poolhalls in Indianapolis

I'll probably be heading to Plainfield, IN this weekend, a suburb of Indianapolis. I was wanting some info on the better poolhalls in Indianapolis. I'm not looking to do any major gambling or anything. Just a place to find some cheap 5 or 10 a game action or maybe some 50 sets. Thanks.

    Learn Me the Slang

I'm like the 4th guy to say this but, "orange" refers to the 5 ball and "crush" refers to the breaks. Here's an example of some random pool slang followed by the definition. I gave Jimmy the "wild 7", "call 8", "the breaks", and "2 on the wire" in a race to 5 for "2 dimes". I still had the...

    A 9-ball Brainteaser

I make the 3 in the corner, 4 in the side and leave myself a long rail bank on the 5. I bank the 5 uptable and play safe behind the 6,8. I hopefully nudge the back of the 6 when playing safe so that it can be made in the corner. What's good about this is when your safe behind the 6,8 your taking...

Advice for an up and coming kid

It's just my opinion but I think a Cuetec cue would be about the worst thing he could get. Paying 500 bucks for a Cuetec would be a very big mistake. I think probably the best thing he could get for 500 would be a lower end Schon. As far as both quality and playability, most 9-ball players would...

What's the best city for pool?

This quote is wrong. My room is 24 hours and it's mainly just $20-$100 sets. Occasionally you'll see a set for $500 but that only happens a few times in a month. It's pretty cheap action around here, but the good thing is that it's real easy to find a game. :D

where can i buy an all efren vid?

The accustats tape #D6-9B3d is basically an all Efren tape. He plays Mika Immonen and Jimmy Wetch on that tape. The Immonen score is like 7-2 and the Wetch score is 7-0. In the Wetch match, Efren pockets every ball of the set and Jimmy only gets to play safe once and kick twice. You can get the...

    Why Watch Accustats Without Grady?

Basically I'm just seconding what everyone has said already. Wych, Hopkins, and Lawrence are all cheesy and suck and Grady, Danny, and Billy all convey their knowledge of the game well. Sometimes DiLiberto may miss a call on a shot, but some shots can be played 2 or 3 ways and are basically a...

Old Wive's tales are true! and an ethics question..

I love it when a thread like this comes up and people get "holier than thou." I like it what Colin said about casting the first stone. I don't know you personally Russ and I'm not trying to start an argument, but if you've played pool for longer than 2 years than it is a fact you have done some...

    Pool in music

In the song "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be Cowboys" by Willie Nelson there's a lyric that says "cowboys like smokey ol' poolrooms and clear mountain mornings". The song isn't about pool but describes poolplayers pretty good when it says "they never stay home and they're always alone...

    The most racks ran

I got an accustats tape where Jimmy Mataya asks Danny DiLiberto what the most ever racks of 10-ball ran was. Diliberto says that Detroit Whitey ran 9 straight racks of 10-ball. IMO I think that is stronger than 13 or 14 racks of 9-ball considering the break factor of a 10-ball rack.

    Pool in music

These songs aren't about pool but they can relate to it. "Stroke" -Billy Squire---the first lyrics go "everybody have you heard, if your in the game, then strokes the word" "Sledgehammer"-Peter Gabriel---not about pool at all but maybe can pump you up for your break "The Baron"--Johnny...
