    disassemble a three jaw chuck?

Yeah you got it made in china, I'm sure I've added about 40 extra hours of work setting up my lathe because of that so far but now apart from this chuck everything appears to be working really well. The only problem is my wife is gonna cut off my you know what's if I keep spending money on this...

    disassemble a three jaw chuck?

Here are a couple pics of my chuck assembled. In trying to take it apart I removed all the bolts on the front and back and took off the jaws. The jaws are numbered and have a mating number stamped into the slots for them so I did not mark them. There appears to be a machined joining line about...

    disassemble a three jaw chuck?

Hi all, I'm in the process of setting up my first lathe. I've done a lot of it but now that I have it cleaned up real well and lubed up I checked out the runout and it was really off (like 20 thou). The lathe is new so wear is not an issue, next I removed the chuck and indicated the backing...

How do I find my center?

Hey everyone, I'm having a little trouble finding my center... I bought a live center from ebay and it wasn't a super cheapie but its very difficult to turn the center, I think it will act more like a dead center in wood rather than a live center without adding too much pressure to start it...

Installing a rear chuck on your lathe

Hi Everyone, Well, I sold my cuesmith deluxe and picked up a chinese 13X40 lathe a couple weeks ago, and decided NOT to try to lug it downstairs (actually convinced my wife to let me insulate the garage and turn it into my shop :D ) Its been interesting so far getting everything I need...

    moving a lathe downstairs...

Thanks, the winch idea was sorta what I had already been leaning towards and it'll be easy to brace my steps from below. I'll have to give it some serious thought before I do anything tho I think. I don't know if there are any movers around here that could handle this kind of thing...no...

    moving a lathe downstairs...

Hey, does anyone have any experience moving a Lathe down a set of stairs. I'm picking up my lathe this weekend and would ideally put it in my basement to use. at 1300 lbs its a little more than getting a few guys together with a case of beer event :) . Any ideas would be appreciated, Thanks, Matt

    chinese lathe worth it?

Thanks, I've heard of the bad service. The other thing I'm worried about in five years will you be able to get parts for these lathes? but the price is definitely right.

    chinese lathe worth it?

Hi all, Has anyone bought or tried a central machinery lathe from HF. I am looking at a 13x40 which is essentially brand new and selling for about 2/3's the price of new. I don't have access to much where I live so getting a good used lathe is pretty tough. Just wondering if the cheap price...

What does it take to learn how to make a cue?

I agree, I have to search high and low to find everything but I find I make larger orders and it works out better. I got a business number, made a UPS brokerage account with them which cuts my fees in half and if you make large orders you still get charged a fairly small fee about $65 I think it...

What does it take to learn how to make a cue?

I am just getting into cue repair/cue building myself. I bought a used cuesmith deluxe (4-5 months ago) and it is a very good machine for this kind of work. between the lathe, a very small amount of wood, and everything else you need just to do regular repairs (taps, center drills, tips, glue...

    Your Home Tables

I have a Gabriels signature pro. Its a fantastic table I had it shipped to northern canada from Las Vegas (it was undergoing a strict training regimen by efren rayes and friends learning how to teach me to become a pro :) from the gabriels Las Vegas 9-ball invitational ). I don't know of anyone...

    hard cue tip????

I've been going through most of the tips listed in the past few months, I've been trying most of the tips out myself to check out all the properties before I install them on peoples cues. I used lepro's for years, a great tip if you get a good one. I am not a fan of triangle tips I find you...

    HVLP spray guns/cue finishing

hmm, I have a 10 gal compressor sitting out in the garage. Do you know what gun you have WilleeCue? I'd have to do a bit of work on the compressor tho, its getting a little long in the tooth... Matt LeClerc
