Inexperienced in the subtle art of sharking, Mark first tried flooding his entire house, but to no avail, so he tried the old "Impatient Posture".

Is the "Scoop Jump" a Foul if...

I'd guess that if there was no interfering ball between the CB and the OB, then it would just be ruled a miscue since there would be no reason to jump there. If there was a ball between them, then it would probably be ruled a foul. Just a guess, but seems logical to me.

    TAR 30 first

Kirkwood ended the night at 30-23. It was back and forth up until 20-23 and then Schmidt seemed to lose momentum and Kirkwood took the last 10. I've never seem either of them play before (total noob here), but according to the commentators, neither of them were playing in top form last night.

Let's have some captions for this photo:

After the incident, she understood her mistake and actually got pretty good at the game, but Sears now ships all their pool tables with a "Caution: No Diving!" sticker on them.

    Magic Bullets and Dead Horses

Good points I think, especially about tools. I stand by my assertion that practice is the only way to improve skill, but having the best tools available is certainly a factor that can't be ignored. While the great players of yerteryear didn't have today's LD shafts and phenolic-tipped...

    Magic Bullets and Dead Horses

I disagree with this. "Skill" can only be improved through practice. Switching to an LD shaft will not improve skill. It will reduce the deviation of the path of the cue ball away from the line of aim, but by how much? Only experimentation (practice) will provide that answer. Gambling will...

Poll: Did The People You Learned From Bet On Pool?

I wonder how much the results would change if the word "bet" was replaced with "read books". I'm guessing that the third answer would win because most teachers grew up when there were very few books/videos on pool and the only real source of knowledge was through the better players who probably...

Does anyone actually believe GAMBLING will

Gambling vs pressure vs focus Gambling does nothing for your pool game except add pressure. So the question really becomes: "Does playing under pressure make you a better player?" The answer to that is still no. Pressure does nothing for your pool game except steer your focus in certain...

Does anyone actually believe GAMBLING will

Gambling by itself? Nah. Of course gambling won't make anyone a better pool player. If that were the case then betting the horses would improve my pool game. It hasn't, nor will it for anyone else. Case closed. It is just a method used to incite a heightened emotional state. There are...

I need a room owner in the LA Area for the Legends and Champions Pool Tour,

There's also Hard Times in Bellflower. Not sure how the tables are as I haven't been there in years, but last I remember they were good. Also known as an action room, so you'll probably find a decent interest there as many of the players will know of Strickland and Archer. Best of luck...

    Efren Reyes facts

The Big Bang was the first rack broken by Efren. Google's "I'm feeling lucky" button was added as an homage to Efren's "I got lucky." Before that, no one had heard of them. Efren's first draw shot is still spinning. Efren signs his name by masseing a cue ball coated in ink. Efren once...

Funny Things APA Could Stand For...

Awesomeness Potential Absent Asinine Player Assessments <serious> Been playing APA for a number of years. Even with its flaws and the occasional disgruntled-postal-worker type that I've run into, I think it's a good forum for people who enjoy the game (without necessarily being devoted to it)...
