    Concepts for a futuristic chalk

If I heard someone say this out of context on an airplane or a bus, it would end up ruining my day for overthinking what it means

    Concepts for a futuristic chalk

10 years ago Don Owen of OB Cues was experimenting with gecko-like surface textures on a custom made tip. Great idea, he showed it to me, but he said it didn’t really work. You really need high friction during an impulse of many thousands of Gs, and static solutions like glue or soft textures...

Washing the cloth on the table

Water cleans everything. Nothing wrong with this. It’s wool, rubber, wood and stone, all things which can get wet and dry. Americans are afraid of water because their homes are built out of wood, and are sold on carpeted floors because it is the cheapest flooring possible. As long as you...

    I finally got it!

“I don’t know how.” Then smile and cry.

What Qualified someone as Qualifiied Instructor???

Major obvious problems are the easiest to correct with the help of a coach or from peers. Beyond that I assume players whom want to improve, self-study. I simply can not connect with people who don’t put in work and don’t like learning by themselves in some capacity.

What Qualified someone as Qualifiied Instructor???

That's kind of like the angle I am trying for. Who seriously is going to "go see an instructor" when you have a super subtle issue that is personal to you and only appears under pressure after hours of playing? Or is something that isn't obvious to anyone but yourself? I want to make things that...

Elbow Drop - Billiards Digest October 2024

It’s a funny discussion all of the time. If you are setting your tip close to the cue ball, within a half inch or less, then the amount of dip at impact caused by a stationary elbow swing compared to a straight line through space is on the order of (or less than) stroke accuracy noise. Stand...

    First DigiBalls are in

Next year. Still working on finalizing testing and manufacturing. Hardware is always slow and expensive to bring to market.

    First DigiBalls are in

Yes I agree and I’ve been trying to distill the info down to the bare minimum by default. I have solved the need for players to input speed and distance info, and now it looks like this… I am also working on a dedicated device that simply plugs into the back of your TV. You turn it on and you...

    History behind your Avatar

I've been an electronic hobbyist since about 7 years old. Always have been more interested in the hardware. Started with those Radio Shack spring-board connect kits and built crystal radios, etc. Later I became an EE and now do it as a profession. Pool interests came later in life during college...

    History behind your Avatar

A lot are obvious, but I think we all often wonder about what the history is behind some of the user's avatars here. For example, boogieman, justadub, isuedtoberich, kling&allen, etc. Just curious!

Typical cost of epoxy coating for 650sqft garage?

Yes I going to watch this. I like these projects, but I just moved and I have so many other things to do, baby on the way, electronic hardware side projects, and a day job, that I will probably just spend a bit longer and save up for retail. It is good to know you got it done for half the price...

Typical cost of epoxy coating for 650sqft garage?

Have any of you poured an epoxy floor in your garage or basement? What should I expect to pay hire a professional for a 650sqft garage (with a drain)? Table will go in the middle of the room. I typically do my own jobs, but for this one I just don't feel like doing it myself. Thanks in advance.

Why does location matter in pool?

I drove 110 miles round trip twice (440 miles total). Once for a down payment of $100 cash with receipt, and again to buy and pick up the table for $500 remaining. Make whatever deal you want to. Direct sales from individuals instead of businesses puts you at risk with dealing with people who...

Two Player 3C with two DigiBalls

The project started as a personal training device, a modern evolution of traditional training balls. The idea is for you to see how closely your actual tip position was compared to where you intended to hit the ball. You use an app on your phone and it is a private interaction. When paired with...

Two Player 3C with two DigiBalls

PFC stands for Percent from Center, as in the percent of ball radius the tip contact point is from center. 432 rpm is a medium amount of spin.

Two Player 3C with two DigiBalls

This video shows a live video demonstration of the Aramith DigiBall carom balls. Both cue balls have sensors inside of them that transmit information including tip position, spin, speed, etc. The balls are exactly the same weight, size, balance and finish as standard Aramith carom balls. The...
