Why does location matter in pool?

Selling my Gold Crown II and someone messages me with a low ball offer because they have to drive from another state.

By that logic anyone from California should get the table for free, plus me kick in $1000 for their trouble, right?

Yeah, their reason is irrelevant to the discussion since it's not about the condition of the table. On the other hand, you could make a counter-offer effective in a month if you haven't sold it. They have the advantages of having money and wanting the table.

people make low ball offers and why not. it gets things started or thats what they will pay and hope you accept it.

if you dont want low offers put in your ad, " price is firm." otherwise your price is up for offers.

some get offended and take it very personally, thinking it hurts their manhood. not saying you, u12.

Hell, I put things for FREE on Facebook Marketplace and people want me to deliver it......

WTH?

Ken

PS. The other thing that cracks me up is when someone tells me what they paid for the item. "So you really paid too much and now it makes it worth alot more?"

Cuts both ways. People with fairly new tables often want to include what they paid for delivery and set-up in the value of the table. The person buying is going to have to move the table and have it set up too.

The seller is entitled to ask what they want and the buyer is entitled to offer what they want. Supporting arguments don't hurt but if the other party is logical they don't help either.

This particular table is set up where you can back your truck up to the actual table and load from there, no steps, stairs, etc. He was driving 110 miles and wanted to pay less for him driving.

so just give him your firm price and if he says ok then he is your customer. if not he isnt. move on.

i dont understand people have a firm price that they will take and dont put that in their ad. they must hope someone will over pay for it but then get mad when they offer to underpay for it.

Add 25% and tell them its an export tax.

It's just a deterrent for some and a logistical issue. It never hurts for the buyer to ask and negotiate. There is no reason you should accept a lower offer.

I don't need to sell it, was just going to make room and move a bar table out to where the big table was.
Appreciate all the responses.

So should I avoid the guy who sent me a check for $1000 over the amount, but I just need to send him back the difference before he comes and gets the table?

No ask him if he wants to buy your other table too.😁😆

For 110 miles, he gets no consideration from me…..I’d tell him to buy a table off his next door neighbour.

Sounds like the Nigerian scam letter. Does he want a certified or cashiers check for the $1000 refund 😂

I drove 110 miles round trip twice (440 miles total). Once for a down payment of $100 cash with receipt, and again to buy and pick up the table for $500 remaining.

Make whatever deal you want to. Direct sales from individuals instead of businesses puts you at risk with dealing with people who don’t know anything about business. Just be understanding about that. Facebook marketplace is a tag sale with no guarantees.

since he is a lowballer then it is perfectly fine to only send him 500 and save 500. instead of 1000. that will teach him a lesson.

I think selling used items locally can be quite the challenge for any given product. The more unique the item (from low-end to high-end, the cost, and even the size) the harder to sell...
