    IMO, the only real way to have people play in a straight pool tournament is to handicap it. It'll promote gambling outside of the tournament in the game too as people try to focus on the game.     Maybe he played too close to you with the 7. Why give weight? Personally though, I'd rather give out the 7 than 8, it's just something that makes it easier for me to get out when I'm at the table. Weird, huh?
