::::::Help!!!! I'm Out Of Stroke!!!::::::

Well, I just got back in town..I have'nt played in a month,so I decided to dust off my budweiser,shaft-jointed cue and hit a few balls .I woofed at a kid a few tables over who I knew as a gambling degenerate who shot straight but could'nt PLAY worth a crap ..I said "You got the 7 ...or 9-7 ..take your pick" He said "you got me!! I'll try you some with the 7" I probably should have insisted we play a set of each(hindsight is 20/20) but then again I probably would have lost at One hole too..

Recap

We played a race to 9 for 200..Well let's see now,I'm trying to revisit my highlights, but there was none .I lost the flip and I probably should have just paid off after that.I could'nt do anything right .My stroke was gone.I could'nt hit a rail. I looked like Leon Spinks out there trying to play pool!! ..It was like a nightmare .

The bad part about it was that he gave me plenty of chances to at least half-way get in somewhat kind of stroke, but I was too comatose to take advantage of his horrble play

Normally,I would have taken away the spot or adjusted a little bit to maybe the 8 but I was so out of stroke, I did'nt think it mattered much so I just paid off and quit ..

No happy ending ..no funny "comeback story" ..That was it,I lost ..Right now, my golf game can give my pool game the 6 out ..

the more i read your posts the more i like you walt. don't sweat the loss next time he'll think he got a good game

I feel your pain. I used to play pool EVERY day, 7 days a week, at the very least 4 hours a day.
In the past months I started up my print/design company and I've been way too busy with running my business and trying to give a go at playing poker part/full time.

I play pool like twice a month... my game was never great, but it's a joke now.. At the end of the night I'm usually hitting the balls decent, but two weeks later when I go to hit my next ball it's back to Ray Charles.

Just try to focus more, I think that's the biggest thing you lose -- you lose the focus, which makes you lose the confidence... without either of those I think it's impossible to play even 50% of your true speed.
And by focus I don't mean "TRY HARDER", I mean be more conscious of your play, and your fundamentals.

I dont know which is worse,
You lost your stroke,
or
I lost the desire to play. I dont care if the ball falls or not. Even in the league I roped into playing, I just dont give 2 craps if I play well or not.
That is something I hope passes quickly!! I have always been able to get my stroke back, but I think this might be here for some time. I even grew a beard AKA BlackJack!!
I still love to watch it, I love to feel the "HIT" of a quality cue, I am still in the market for a cue (for some dumb ass reason). I just dont have the heart to play anymore..
Your stroke will get back in line just takes a little work.

Happened to me yesterday. I just am not in the mood to play for the past week. No killer instinct. No drive at all to play. I want to have it. I just can't find it. I was down and out about running four balls. Some days, I see the table and the out before I get out of the chair. For the past week, I am "poking and hoping" as my buddy says. Pool is dead right now, and it's hard for me to get excited about any more. Oh well, maybe it'll come back to me.

Ray Charles played pretty sporty.....

Well hold on now ...They say that Ray Charles played pretty good 1hole bruh ..So that can't be too bad.:p :p

Meanwhile,Stevie Wonder was in attendance for my ..er..match..He saw how bad I played and then offered me the 8ball ..Now that's strong,I would'nt take the 8 from a blind guy:o :p :D

I did get his autograph though, and I twist his arm to play a few holes of golf(I lost that too) with me at a nearby course.. Stevie's putter gives Tiger's the 7 ball!!!! ..What's amazing is that stevie shot a 62 using only 2 clubs ..A driver and a putter!!! It was the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my life !!

Afterwards I asked Stevie how he learned to play so good and his caddy interrupted me by saying "just pay the man sucker!" (he was blind also)..I can't get a break:( :(

Happens to me all the time. My biggest problem, is that since I've stopped playing regularly, the gap between my best game and my worst game is huge. Every time I go out, I ask myself, "ok, am I going to catch a stroke tonight, or am I gonna flop?" And, my second major problem is that most of the people I play know me for my best game, so I'm the one giving up weight. It really sucks having to lose to somebody that only has half of your game.

I beat the rails up so badly .The table needed stitches afterwards!..The house guy said all he could do was put a few bandaids on the cushion to lessen the swelling:o :o :p

I was trying my hardest to make another pocket down between the first and second diamond on the right side rail ..

Maybe I should take up 3C?:p :p

I think that happens to everyone - no matter who you are. Being able to just "flip the switch" and beat someone out of $200 is tough.

I can't tell you how many times I was practicing and never missed a ball in an hour and then jumped into action and fell apart. I asked a pro friend of mine how to fix that. He replied: Easy... always be in action.

Maybe he played too close to you with the 7. Why give weight?

Personally though, I'd rather give out the 7 than 8, it's just something that makes it easier for me to get out when I'm at the table. Weird, huh?

I read the other day that Mark Wilson says when you're tired of missing to start aiming.

Interesting thought.

You got action

Hell Walt arent you like just a hour anf 1/2 from me.........come to my place and Ill give you the 2 :D:D:D:D:D

and if the two is a little out of line,I'll take the three ball ..but I'll need at least 2:1 on the dough .:p :D :o

It's all in the follow through. Focus on touching the heel of your hand/base of your wrist with your middle and ring finger as you shoot.

You'll be back at your usual 47% by the time training camp starts

Ok..so what about the other 53% ?....I guess I'll get that when the saints take the Lomabardi Trophy!!!!:p :p

Who Dat!!!

You gotta book a loser from time to time----if you win yourself out of action you'll be "on the road again"

NAH, he kinda resembles my li'l sis, though:)

On topic: Try playing exclusively with an open bridge for a while. Seems to help me when things get weird.
