    Comment on UltraSkin Layered Tips

No problem w/mushrooming. But had a problem with glazing on the med. Wouldn't hold chalk. Had to install a different name tip for the customer, said he had lost confidence in the md ultra.

elk antlers Was picking up some food at Pet Smart the other day for my canines and low and behold they were selling elk antlers in about 3" pieces for dogs to knawl on. Thought the price was a little high. I work with this material occasionally and I guess if you need a piece this might...

    Tip Install Issues

I've got the same problem with a customer's shaft! This will be the 4th install with a new triangle tip each time. Customer plays with it for a short time and tip pops off with bottom English. Used new glue the first 2 times and used epoxy the 3rd time. same results with the tip popping off...

    WTF moment

compression bumper A few years ago I also was going to wrap a cue and came across a similar bumper. No markings on the cue but I know for sure this one was not a Schuler. The CM had taken a T-Nut with 8/32 hex screw about 3/4 inches long and had used washers sandwiched between rubber O-rings...

    deer antler

:) I have worked with elk antler for ferrules and butt caps. Turned out pretty nice just smelled crappy while turning pieces. Was told by the hunter that the antlers needed to cure for around 5 years to minimize splitting or cracking. Don't know how accurate the 5 year suggestion was but...

    revisit finish over wrap

Sorry about a lack of enough info. I have stripped a meucci down to the wood and the customer wants the original wrap to remain. So all is complete except for refinishing the entire cue. My question to all responders is what should I seal the cue and wrap with on the first seal coat to...

    finish over wrap

Sorry cm's I didn't state that I am refinishing a cue that the wrap is already installed. I have sanded the forearm, original wrap and butt sleeve down to original finish. Should I still use the 5min or will 20 min do what I need to refinish the cue? thanx

    joss weight bolt

Thanx Sealegs50! Your pic is exactly what I am dealing with. Customer doesn't want to spend the $ with joss(shipping, insurance, & repair). He is not the original owner of the cue. Not a problem replacing the bolt on my end. As CM's and repairmen we love to deal with a new challenge that...

    joss weight bolt

Does anyone have any experience with changing the wt bolt on a joss? The bumber is screwed in with an 8/32 hex, but when removed there is a nut looking wt bolt, maybe 1/2 inch head without a lot of room to put a socket on it, tried a thin wall with no luck. I have not figured out how to post...

Vibration/Buzz with More Than oneTips English

When the joint pin was installed the maker may not have let the epoxy cure properly before screwing the shaft together with the butt creating an air pocket. That could be a symptom when you stated the same thing happens when your shaft is screwed on the butt. Resetting the pin might help...

Is cue making your only job?

I am not a full time cue builder. My other businesses keep me too busy to be devoted full time. There are a fair amount of repairs to do in my area that have a much quicker turn around time and pays for the inventory a lot sooner. IMO when you build cues part time, you have to acquire extra...

    antique white linen wrap

KJ, you're correct on the cleanliness. I washed my hands and cleaned my pressor. Still does not look like a wrap I would want personally. Maybe the customer will change his mind to a double brown with white specs. I would rather eat the cost and time than send something out that even I am...

    antique white linen wrap

A customer wanted a white wrap installed. I had never done or have had a request for solid white(just happened to have some I was experimenting with). It was being installed on a rosewood handle. After making sure I had a tight wrap so the rosewood wouldn't show thru I cleaned and pressed...
