    Early Adam Cue Question

Nice traditional cue. Even Joss used some aluminum for shaft inserts in the 80s.

    Jill Hawk cue cases!

Amazing collection of old school cases.

    Richard Black - Black Baron

I may have missed this cue when it was posted over a decade ago, but it's beautiful old school. The buttsleeve is classic Richard Black, and the points with the gunsights remind me of early Joss cues. I'm not sure, but I suspect the wrap over time has been replaced to leather.

    Scruggs Plain Jane

Yes, Tim did plain jane style cues, usually maple, no points, plain butt plate. They were always the first cues in his brochures. You could have curly maple, Birdseye maple, either unstained or stained. Usually a Delrin butt plate, but he had others, including Ivorine 3. Usually a steel...

Up and coming cue makers to invest in???

Generally, cues don't appreciate in value these days, unless you're willing to wait something like 14 to 18 years for a Southwest. And, in that time, I suspect a passbook savings account or money market fund would have done better than even that. Cue collectors are shrinking somewhat, as the...

    Family Shot 2

I did a Family Shot 1 of cues some time ago. Well, here's Family Shot 2. Enjoy1

Have you ever had an old Dufferin sneaky pete (from Canada) converted?

Nice cues. Good thing about ebony Dufferins, is they're a lot easier to find than ebony Titlist blanks. Plus, you have the option of finding those with the butterfly splice section. Nice looking.

Balabushka... "the quintessential apotheosis " of a career that launched an industry

It does look new, but are we sure that leather wrap wasn't done by George originally?

    A Lassiter original

Nope, Luther did not do a slip stroke. He did hold the cue high up on the wrap area, which you are seeing. But no slip stroke with Luther.

    Vintage 70's Joss BIG PIN - 3/8/10

First two are the best. The first is the oldest. 68 to 72? Possibly. Looks like the first two have the original KU bumpers. One of them has a replacement shaft. No telling how good the shafts are, and no telling whether any of them roll straight. But a refinish would not hurt the earlier...

Anyone notice the quality of major brands of tips going down?

They were very good in the 1970's. Unfortunately, this isn't the 70s.

    Cool original Mosconi photo

Very cool. That's his famous Balabushka he's holding.

    Joss Customer Service

Do yourself and everyone a favor. Withdraw your order. You're not used to this, and it sounds like you're a pain in the ass customer.

    Vintage 70's Joss BIG PIN - 3/8/10

Some of the early ones had Cortland linen. Yes, it can be refinished, and wrap saved. Should it be refinished? That would be up to you. Proficient could save the wrap and save the buttplate. Joss would replace both wrap and buttplate. Would recommend Proficient over Joss.

Took the Scruggs for a spin

Yeah, I see what you mean. Couple of possibilities. One, the wood next to the ring shrunk a bit, and two, some finish tends to flake off of some metals sooner than it flakes off wood. Could be a combination of the two giving it that look. In older cues, that's character.

Took the Scruggs for a spin

    Yes, aluminum shouldn't swell either.

    My personal cue

Very unusual cue, that's for sure. Didn't know your nickname was Squirrel. Wasn't there a Tuscaloosa Squirrel too?

Took the Scruggs for a spin

Nice cue. Assuming the rings are nickel, they didn't likely swell, but rather the surrounding wood shrunk just a bit. That happens more in dry climates but can happen anywhere depending on climate control.
