Can Earl ever win it again?????????

I dunno. They played on pretty tough Diamonds last year and he finished fourth. Lost to Souquet and Bustamante, which is something not many people would need to make apologies for. Pounded Reyes the match before. So yeah, I think he could win another one. Once you get to the final eight it...

How many of you can beat the 9-ball ghost?

For 14.1, the game "Equal Offense" is basically equivalent to playing the 9-ball ghost. Break the balls wide open. Play the rack like 14.1 to a maximum of 20 points. Play 10 racks this way and keep track of your total score.

    My Excuses

I was playing some cheap sets with a "A" player last night. He wasn't playing well and I managed to win the first set pretty decisively. After hooking himself on a routine two rail position shot, I mentioned that the table seemed to be playing a little slow, and he replied that he just didn't...

problems with joss west pin size

That's interesting, because I did try using a delrin set from a Scruggs cue I have and it seemed to fit OK. I realize that isn't a perfect solution, but would this be safe to do? Is delrin hard enough that it would damage the pin threads? The reason I have never had a set made is that I was...

problems with joss west pin size

Would you have any idea where I could get joint protectors that would fit an 87 Josswest? It has a piloted ivory joint with the 5/16 ACME pin...

What's the advantage of an ivory joint?

IIRC, Jim Rempe participated in that experiment and was fooled.

    Josey Custom Cues email issues

Communication is about reading all the sentences in a paragraph, not just randomly picking one and flying off the handle. For example, I could come to the conclusion that I was being called a name by selectively reading the above, but I know that's not true. If you look at my second paragraph...

    Josey Custom Cues email issues

I think it kind of depends on what part of the country you live. Here in the northeast, Keith's work isn't as well known. I am sure you would see more as get closer to Georgia. Maybe a regular post would have sufficed as opposed to a sticky. But that would make it more likely to be missed...

    Aiming System revisted

But you are basically saying the same thing he is. No two peoples stances are going to look exactly the same, or reach some ideal published in some book. The important thing is that it is repeatable. And that's where amateurs drop the ball. People have thrown out Bustamonte's behind the back...

It sounds like you are talking about their pre-shot routine, what does this have to do with geometric aiming systems?

    Aiming System revisted

That must be why I failed geometry in school! :) I have read somewhere that the half ball hit has the largest margin of error because the object ball will depart at pretty much the same angle for the widest range of possible hits. I guess this has something to do with collision...

    Aiming System revisted

Koop said: "Not quite sure where that figure comes from but I would guess it is grossly off the mark. There just aren't that many bad strokes out there, especially among the pro's." I don't think it's the pros who are scouring the internet for aiming systems.

    Aiming System revisted

The reality is that on most shots there is not a single point that the object ball must be struck at to be pocketed. There is actually a range of places where you can be successful. This is due to several factors, the pocket size/ball size ratio, the angle of approach to the pocket, the degree...

    Aiming System revisted

I was playing nine ball last night and the lens popped out of my glasses. I am pretty near sighted. Without my glasses the balls are just blobs of color. For example, I can't distinctly see the numbers, stripes, or the edges of the balls. It really didn't effect my play all the much. My run out...

So many pro's using SS joint

I don't know. I asked his partner Mike Cochran about an ivory joint once and he told me that most of the differences between joints was in players imaginations. I own 4 Scruggs cues (5 on Saturday), a Joss West, a couple of Joseys, a Layani, and a Pechauer. Piloted stainless steel, flat faced...

14.1 World Championship Update --- BEST TOURNEY EVER

You could be right about that. That kid shoots awfully straight! I wasn't originally watching their match as I was on the other side of the room. When the match I was watching was over, (Zuglan/Williams(?)) I move over to the other side for Engert/Takami. The Harriman/Becker finish was just a bonus.

14.1 World Championship Update --- BEST TOURNEY EVER

The best part of the natural disaster was that they moved that match to the table in front of me and I got to watch Danny's comeback with an 82 and out from eight feet away.
