    Vintage Viking - 1978

I believe this is a version of the Z35 cue from 1978. This has a dark green pearlized butt sleve, where the listing in the Blue book shows it as blue. There is a hairline crack in the plastic over the letter ‘V’ in Viking. There are also a couple hairline cracks near the ferrel. The ferrel...

How commited are you to getting to the next level?

I had to average it because I don't get to play every day. I play around 8-10 hours / week right now. Of that, 6 hours are playing alone, 1-3 hours competing, 1-3 hours playing others for practice. It's going pretty well. I would say my game has been elevated by 1/2 a handicap point in the...

Making your opponents shoot every shot or concede out of respect?

The concept of sharking has me thinking. I NEVER want to do that to a player, but is that in fact what I'm doing??? I never would concede a match, but I will sometimes concede a game during a match, especially if it's early on. Now I would never step up, wipe the balls or anything like that...

    How to "Play the Ghost"

Playing the ghost is my main routine. Here is how I do it. 1.I start with 4 balls. (I started with 3 balls a year ago but have improved.) 3 solids or 3 stripes and the 8 ball. If I'm practicing playing the 9 ball ghost, I use the 6,7,8,9. 2.Break the balls, or spread them out on the table...

Your Opinion On These Break Cues

My Pechauer break does a bang up job. And the fact that it has a leather tip means there is no issue with using it in any league or competition.

Jumping---to chalk or not to chalk

Just spoke with Pechauer. They said that the jump cue should be chalked. No reason not to chalk it. They also said you might want to rough it up a bit with sand paper.

Jumping---to chalk or not to chalk

I've been wondering about this a lot lately. I also use a Pechauer Jump cue. I was told by the person who sold it to me that I should not chalk it (as opposed to other jump cues.) I wonder what Pechauer has to say. I'll give them a call and post result.

    Straight Pool 14.1 ball set?

Is there a such thing? Or has it/is it always played with a standard 15 ball numbered set? Google turned up nothing particular. Looking to get a new table in the next year and thinking about all the cool things I'll buy for it.
