Cuemakers - Define This Cue To Me

Just get one of chuck starkeys cues. Best shooting cue I've ever held. A lot can be said for a custom that shoots like an old old one piece. Friend of mine has one. Been trying to steal it off him. Maybe I'll have to order myself.

    edwin reyes cues

I replaced the grip. It wasn't cut too deep. The original grip itself was thinner for the last half inch or so. Not sure what that's all about. The new grip matches up nice. Took it out after work and shot with it a bit. Doesn't fell as good as one of my cues but not bad. Just too stiff...

    edwin reyes cues

I ended up buying one of those Edwin Paul Reyes cues. It has amboyna points into sapele. The wood is absolutely gourgious. Points are dead even and ring work is nice. The shaft is arrow straight with very little grain runout. However, the shaft taper is extremely stiff, almost appears to be...

    edwin reyes cues

Yeah yeah yeah. I don't really care about the scrupules of using the Edwin Reyes name or not. He could call them EPR cues for all I care. If his name really is edwin reyes he has the right to call his cues whatever he wants. I just would like to know if anyone has seen or better yet shot...

    edwin reyes cues

I knew it couldnt be one of his. Thought maybe someone was building in his name maybe. Has anyone any experience with Edwin Paul reyes' cues? I think some are pretty nice looking.

    edwin reyes cues

Does anyone know anything about these cues? I've seen one with his name but dated 2013. Its a beautiful cue but I thought he has been dead for several years. Is someone building them again under his name?

are joint protectors worth the extra cost??

they do several things. protect the joint pin from being bent. help keep air therefore humidity away from the unsealed wood at the joint. mostly though they protect the edge of the joint collar from being chipped or dented. also of u have a big case like I do its a good place to put a label...

    Gordons Cues

anyone have any experience with these? believe they are made in the philipines. Did it stay straight? is the entire length of the shaft cleared? crispness of inlays?

    NAPA Leagues

Does anyone shoot NAPA? We just got it started around here and i really like it better than APA. I play APA, VNEA, and NAPA now and have to say I like NAPA the best. The races get a little crazy some times but overall its good.

    removing a joint pin

a friend of mine has an old cue with a 5/16-18 joint pin that needs to be standard uniloc. w what's the best way to remove the 5/16-18 with out screwing the wood up around pin too much so I can drill bore and thread for the uniloc?

Gonna build a low squirt shaft

I agree whole heartedly there is more to squirt than just endmass. the way that the waveform travels down the shaft specifically the speed and magnetude that it does is very important to squirt. this is the reason for vibration dampening.

Gonna build a low squirt shaft

im not concerned about the maple versus bamboo ferrule. I know the bamboo is lighter. Ive weighed it. first, im more concerned about the question of how exactly the cork filled ferrule on the lucasi and universal shafts is supposed to lower deflection. second, exactly what effect shaft...

Gonna build a low squirt shaft

I'm wondering if the compliant ferrules on the lucasi and universal shafts allow the tip/ferrule combination to be effectively separate from the end mass of the shaft on impact? therefore the effective endmass is that of the ferrule and tip only. seems the ferrule can flex to the side a small...

Gonna build a low squirt shaft

The balsa is there to help dampen the shaft. The waveforms that travel down that shaft during contact make the shaft act more stiff and heavier than it really is. The difference in materials density should help to break up and dissipate these waves. its the same reason that ob and predators...

Gonna build a low squirt shaft

carbon fiber, balsa and bamboo all have a lower density than maple. I agree a ferrule-less design is lighter in endmass than plastic (even titan, xtc, and maxlite), but not lighter than bamboo. not even close. i have laminated bamboo and laminated maple ferrules. the bamboo weights half for...

Gonna build a low squirt shaft

does anyone know what's up with the floating ferrule design on lucasi zero flexpoint and universal smart shafts?

Gonna build a low squirt shaft

I bought the balsa dowels on ebay, ten for like ten dollars. I went with a ferrule cause I wanted to keep the shaft length. also the balsa, carbon fiber, and bamboo ferrule are all lighter in weight than maple. I use some paper tip pads with any maple or bamboo ferrules that I install. I am...

Gonna build a low squirt shaft

Took out and tried my prototype. This was just an old 5/16-18 piloted shaft found from some house repo. I steamed and sanded out the shaft then cut the ferrule and tenon off. I drilled a 5/16 hole 10 inches deep into the tip end of the shaft. I took an 8mm balsa dowel that was 305mm long...

Gonna build a low squirt shaft

I was kicking around the idea of buying an ob-2 partial and building up a shaft for my league cue. would have to go the partial route because it uses a wooden carom joint. the longer I thought about this however the more I thought I could build one from scratch, so I bought a laminated shaft...
