    WPA Bans 245 Players

Then again snooker could have been this, now, if the audience hadn't rejected it: They also tried to add an extra coloured ball a while back, but I can't find video of it. Point is, they've tried to change the game drastically many times and the audience rejected it.

    WPA Bans 245 Players

I'm afraid not. MR has been saved from ifself by the conservative British audience many times. Othervise snooker would not have been recognizable today. Who will save pool from their inventions? Fwiw they're still a better custodian of pool than WPA.

    WPA Bans 245 Players

I agree in part to what you are saying. Unfortunately, MR will have the power to change how the game is played unilaterally. Ball colors, pocket sizes, cloth color/speed, rail speed/profiles, and other important aspects of the game will largely be determined by the pro game. They can and will...

    WPA Bans 245 Players

I always knew this was where the WPA was heading. They've dug their own grave, and now must rot in it. The idea of a world wide pool federation is appealing. In practise it ended up being an entity solely working to keep itself afloat, not to further pools interests. It has focused on a number...

Aiming book by Richard Eshelman -- The Deadly Aiming System

To me, it's quite simple: If a book is good, it won't be a secret for long. If it's not a secret and good, it will be bought and sold in large quantities. If it's good, it won't be rare. That goes for ALMOST everything in life. If something is so rare that it's extremely expensive to aquire, it...

    What would you have done?

I'm not one to call foul on every technicality, but this is clearly a foul, I'd call it and sleep like a baby. I'd go even further and say that I actually get quite annoyed when my opponent does that extension-in-the-pocket-bit, knowing that I'd have to call foul on it if he hits it. Walk two...

Do you know of players who had such Natural Talent, that they could have been a World Champion?

I did know such a person, but for reasons that will become clear, I won't name him. He was a natural. An A player after about 6 months of practise. Never seen anything like it. He was destroying the top local talent like they were beginers and his game was almost completely developed too. It's...

    LD shaft and miscues.

The same. As far as jumping, it's harder with most ld shafts. What you need to do, to jump a full ball with an ld-shaft, is to hit less of the ball and go shallower on the angle. Imagine a line going through the cueball core at, say 30 degrees. You'd want to go paralell to that line (on the...

    Great Outs !!!

I'm not a huge one pocket watcher, but this out is pretty good, I'd say:

Hitting better with a hard tip?

I stopped using soft tips. I think I lose a bit of feedback from the cue when the tip is too soft. I have better speed control with a harder tip.

Cue stick stroke with a spin.

My uncle used to own an ancient car that had trouble going uphill. He'd rock his body back and forth to "help" it get up. It never stopped being funny.

    More Diamond 7' bounce

Extreme bounce can sometimes be caused by the cushion nose being too low. If the mechanic overtightened the cloth, pulling the nose of the cushion down for instance. In extreme cases this will also cause the ball striking the cushion to jump slightly with harder shots. It can almosts seem like...

Digicue Blue. Guys are Afraid to Know?

A better stroke is key to better pool. Repeatability is of the utmost importance. The cue needs to arrive at the place it needs to be, every time, as long as it does, it matters not how it gets there. Some styles are more reliable and easy to use than others, but some may not be able to use an...

Digicue Blue. Guys are Afraid to Know?

I'm not usually a fan of gizmos such as this. But here I think you yourself need to clarify what would constitute proof, to you? High runs etc are contigent on many factors, such as mental acuity, vision, aiming, understanding of the game (pattern play, risk management) as well as the stroke...

    Shorter break cue

I never got this. If you want a shorter grip, you can choke up on a normal length cue. You can get normal length cues in all sorts of weights. The only thing that really makes sense is that a shorter cue will be a bit stiffer. Again, you can always get a longer cue with a different taper, so...

    UK Too Slow

You do realize what this means? 1. As long as the sport has no excitement to spectators, nobody will watch it. 2. If nobody watches it, there will be no incentive for sponsors to put money into it. 3. If there are no sponsors, price funds will be slashed and venues/equipment will be downgraded...

    Small pockets ruining the game

It's Matchroom. The Brits are obsessed with pocket size, even in snooker. Thank God they at least managed to standardize that. The problem is that Brits never have- or will respect US pool. It's just a sideshow to snooker for them. Shrinking the pockets is a lame attempt at bringing UK fans...

    Pool Hall Junkies

My favourite movie is "The Shining" by Kubrick. Very different from the novel. A fantastic film that has levels atop of levels. You can get lost in it and every time you watch it you discover something you missed. Film making is different from novels. What works for one doesn't always work for...

    Pool Hall Junkies

Real life doesn't translate well to film. Car movies have people shifting gears 8000 times. Any "realistic" pool movie would be insanely boring to the average spectator. Watching some guy get run over with no trick shots. Or two gamblers woofing at eachother with no intention to play? Who the f...
