    Challenge of Champions dump

Hey CJ, I don't know why this something that you want to go to great lengths to claim didn't happen or didn't have an effect on the game, it is pretty much past history and a footnote at that, (even though there are recent multiple threads on the subject). But when you say...

    Challenge of Champions dump

Speaking of Harry Platis, Ronnie Allen tells a great story about how Harry asked him to teach him how to hustle. Ronnie teamed up with U.J. Puckett to help Platis out. Great story. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHGrq7v3caQ

    Challenge of Champions dump

This event and the alleged dump have been discussed many times over the years here and on onepocket.org. The overwhelming consensus has been that a dump did take place. Why, with these latest threads, several are now vehemently denying it, I have no idea...

The casino can change odds on future bets, but if you got your bet down at 20-1, it stays there for that bet. They probably got a lot of bets and later lowered the odds(on Lebron). Now in paramutual racing you may place a bet when the odds on your horse are 20-1, but you don't necessarily get...

No, if they set a firm line, they are booking it. The other way would be paramutual betting, like horseracing. In that case the odds on Lebron (or anyone) where lots of bets were being placed would drop accordingly. It was the firm long odds that the alleged dump took advantage of.

I don't care for casinos much either. Everything is in their favor, but they don't make you gamble.

And the elephant in the room? Mark told him he would never speak a word to anyone.....well I guess technically he didn't 'speak' a word. One other thought, parents usually tell their kids, when they have done something wrong, "If you keep lying about it, denying that you did it, things are...

Having watched it a few times, it wasn't just one shot. There were several, including obvious attempts to scratch. Still think he dumped.

    Annoying habits of the pros

One of those guys from Greece kept raising his bridge hand up then back down, then up, and down, about 5 times before finally shooting....it was annoying, what's up with that?

I agree. The Greek players showed a lot of talent. Good event. Thanks to all responsible for making it happen.

Congrats to Nick for stepping up and playing. I'm sure he was a little off his game, but when you're playing a race to 50 and your opponent breaks and runs 26, anyone would be in trouble.

    donald sterling, racism

Frankly, I don't see the race problem getting any better. For the most part, black on white racism is on the rise and mostly tolerated. The news media paints it all to be one sided, ignoring any stories that do not promote their agenda. And, yes, this should be in NPR.

The screen shows (50) between player scores, so guessing that means the race is to 50.

The Rise and Fall of Professional Bowling

Not about the decline of bowling, but years ago, after school I would walk across the street to the Village Bowling Lanes in Beaumont, TX. A couple of guys that I would see there a lot were Mark Williams and David Ozio... both later made the Hall of Fame in bowling... what are the odds?

who did Earl beat in his gambling days?

I'm not sure at exactly what age, but Earl moved near to Houston, in Baytown, I think, when he was a teenager. I believe his father found work there and Earl came with him. Some of the rooms in Houston then were Goofey's Gameroom, Grand Central Station, and Cassidy's. IIRC Earl probably played...
