No dispute that Efren is the GOAT, but who is the 9 ball GOAT?

Yep "winning 63 of his first 68 finals entered" I added this to Sigel's wiki, when I found it in an article of the National Billiard News, it does sound good but once again like I said before, 50-60% of those tournament were $500 tournament with lots of the top players not in them, I also wrote...

No dispute that Efren is the GOAT, but who is the 9 ball GOAT?

If it's sustained excellence and mass-produced major titles over a length of a career, surely it would be SVB. Like Sigel, Shane has won over 100 professional titles but Shane's only 39 and Sigel achieved this when he was 41 and Shane probably won't retire in the next couple of years and will go...

    The PPPA

Do you now any of the The PPPA World Open first place prize pay-outs from 1976-1983? The National Billiard News doesn't go in to much about the pay of the events. these are the only one's I could find- 1977- $15,000 to Hopkins. 1986- $8,000 to Varner.

No dispute that Efren is the GOAT, but who is the 9 ball GOAT?

Efren did win the Tokyo 9-Ball Open in 2001 which was the largest pay-out of any tournament at the time, he also won the World Pool Championship in 1999, which I believe was the largest pay-out of any tournament at the time, I'll double check that one. 👍 If this is true he would have won the...

Just looked at Vivian Villarreal's tournament record, she's in no doubt Hall of Fame worthy, in the future. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivian_Villarreal#Titles_won

Efren about to be knocked off the top of the all-time money list

Sigel did win over 100 tournaments, but a common misconception, they weren't all $10,000 tournaments, 60% of them were $500-$1000 tournaments, still impressive. But yes if the tournament results were recorded in the 70s, 80s and 90s (which there not) Sigel, Varner, Earl and Buddy would be close...

Efren about to be knocked off the top of the all-time money list

They call it "All Time Money List" but this is grossly incorrect, the results of tournaments have only been fairly consistent since the early 2000s, prior to 1999 the ONLY tournament that was recorded for money earnings was the U.S Open 9-Ball, so there are thousands of tournaments that haven't...

Good point, Sang Lee's average was almost about world championship level if not above average some years, during his prime, while he was playing nationally in America, hence why he was undefeated for over a decade.

Me neither, but he is close to equalling Sang Lee's record of 12 USBA National Three-Cushion Championship titles.

Yes very difficult! Allen Gilbert would be a good consideration, many titles and played for a long time. Here's the National champions- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Billiard_Association#USBA_National_Three-Cushion_Championship

A personal letter of recommendation by Sigel in support of a players induction, would be hard to argue against too. I wonder who, if any player he would want to see in the Hall of Fame.

Thank you. Do you know how long a player has to be an active professional for them to be inducted, a lot of websites say different things, 10, 15, 20 years?

Yes finally, Stu approved one :) I added Fitzpatrick because I heard Jay Helfert talk about him. He died at 41 years old and like Harold Worst wasn't able to fulfil his full potential. I believe he could have with the Johnston City tournaments just beginning and like Lassiter didn't stat playing...

I'm curious, when was the over 40 years of age rule put in place? Mizerak got in at 36 in 1980, Balukas at 25 in 1985 and Sigel at 35 in 1989.

    Danny D,s birthday coming up

Yep, I was going to mention Dallas West. Lebron is still alive isn't he, I assumed so due to his wiki page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Lebr%C3%B3n
