What kind and color of chalk do you use and why?

Master Blue. Just traditional to me I guess. But if I have to I'll use any color that is available. My main objective is to pocket balls. Not worry about the cloth.

    Gambling laws in Texas

That's probably what they told you to keep you from getting drunk and chasing women. I'm sure it's was an issue of national security.

    Gambling laws in Texas

I have some friends who run some poker games where they play for cash. So they looked into the laws here in Georgia pretty closely. Now of course this is Georgia and not Texas but could give some insight. Basically it went along the lines of "Gambling is legal if as long as there is no rake...

    Starting a BCA team???

Last year I played on an APA 9ball and 8ball team. Which I enjoyed. However some friends of mine wanted to play next session. A couple of them will be under 21. So I don't believe they can play in the APA. However the people over 21 wanted to play in a smoke free enviroment anyways. Which...

I'm a table mechanic and I put a lot of tables into garages. Some are carpeted and others aren't finished. I have a Gold Crown 3 that I put into my garage. It works out great. I have 2 heaters in my garage. 1 is a ceiling mount heater and the other a floor heater. Combined with a fan...

    Brunswick Table Question

I move pool tables everyday and you won't believe what you see out there. There was a job I did where we took an old Brunswick table from a house in North Atlanta. It was an estate sale. I think they got the 9' table for $200 plus paying us. He said that Willie Misconi has played on that...

GC III vs GC IV ???

There are a lot of differences between the 2. The GC4 has flush pockets The GC4 castings bolt sideways into the rail The GC4 has 2 cross bars with no center bar The GC4 frame is thicker and heavier The GC4 has levelers built into the frame for planing. (No wooden wedges) The GC4 has ball...

Pool room for SALE in Atlanta

Business revenue is always lower on paper than it really is. That also might be company revenue. A buddy of mine looked into buying a bar. It showed the gross revenue for the bar to be $30k. But the owner made $50k. The manager I think 30k. The actual owner was both manager and...

Pool room for SALE in Atlanta

I wonder what pool hall it is. I've heard Players Billiards (Off Powers Ferry rd) has closed down. It's in a big big money part of town. But you have to compete with the Pool Room not to far away. Now I haven't been there but have heard it was pretty nice. If somone could find out which...

    Purchasing Cheesy Pool Tables...

If you look around enough you can find killer deals. However you have to be ready to jump on them right then and there. And be able to get the table out that day. Our shop has bought nice pool tables for $300-600. We normally don't pay more than that because the owner has to pay us to pick...

    Pool Table Question

Well if you want durability the GCs are a great line. I have GC3 that use to belong to a pool hall. The rails are in great shape. But even a 9ft furniture style can stand a lot of abuse. And the looks can last if you buy a lighter finish like Oak.

The Real Doping Problem In Sport: Billiards

I like to hit the crack pipe before each shot. Luckily I play Willie Misconie's ghost so I don't have to do it much. I wonder what percentage of Dice throwers use drugs?

Man murdered at Backstage Billiards in Orlando, Florida

We had a shooting at a pool hall here in Atlanta not to long ago. I first heard on the news "Shooting at pool hall on Chamblee-Tucker rd". Which is where Mr. Cues2 is. Then I saw video and it was at one down the road. Which I often pass. However the area it is in is considered one of the...

I'm thinking of starting a Pool Hall, any suggestions?

As someone mentioned earlier, according to the SBA most business' that are restaurants or bars fail. So it's extremely hard to get a loan for one. Considering there isn't a lot of collateral to fall on. Providing you had some paid off pool tables you might have a better chance. But not much...

    Computers in a Pool Room.

I don't see myself using it. However I guess it could be pretty cool. You'll probably need one on the side to check "MYSPACE" so the rest of the computers aren't hogged.

    Standing slate on end

I honestly think Brazillian slate is flatter and you can get it to play more level. However I think it plays different than Italian. Nothing major but when I go to Italian slate from Brazilian it takes me a few games to get in the groove. As for standing on side there should be no problem.

Trying to get answers on cloth speeds!

Simonis 300 is by far the fastest. At our shop we had a table with Mali Worsted. Not sure of the actual name. But it was super fast. Much faster than Simonis 860. Championship Tour Edition and Brunswick Centenial are pretty much the same. I believe Centenial is suppose to be Tour Edition...
