    Short fuse?

I would agree with this (but that's all I agree with when it comes from a BoSox fan! ;))

Cyclop, Super Aramith, or Centennial Balls?

Does anyone know if the Brunswick Centennials were changed to the new formulation as the Aramith Tournaments? My understanding is that the material had been the same as the Super Aramith Pro. Aramith says the new resin is easier on cloth.

Table on a tile floor question

Thanks. What did you use to keep the table from sliding? Just furniture grippers, or pieces of carpet underneath, or nothing?

Table on a tile floor question

Definitely a concern. I have had the occasional ball fly off the table, but neither ball nor tile was at all damaged. Not to say it couldn't happen tomorrow, but it hasn't happened yet. The carpet I have only goes to just under the edge of the table. I'm either going to replace it with a...

Table on a tile floor question

I've had a small carpet under my table in its current position, on an otherwise tile floor. It's been stable, hasn't slipped, and the level has remained good. It's very worn, though, and needs to come out. I don't know if I want to replace it (and run the risk of another carpet fraying at the...

    One more practice day trashed.

Sorry, man. I recognized you from your avatar and wanted to be near people I was familiar with. Oh, and sorry about that nick I put in your cue while you were on the phone. I'd have bet anything I could bang it on the table like that without hurting it. It looked strong. Won't happen again. :)

The most fascinating golfer at the Masters using a controversial swing

That bolded part is something that NASA engineer Dave Pelz did a lot of work on in his "Short Game Bible". (Highly recommended.) The idea is to use four wedges with four different length backswings on each, based on "clock position" (7:30, 9:00, 10:30, and full), log those distances, and list...

    Show me your cocobolo cues

I've heard people talk about this wood and that wood playing stiff, etc. (Purple Heart seems to be very stiff, for example.) I'm looking at a Mezz EC7 and was wondering how cocobolo plays. I like that rich red wood look, but want a stiff playing cue. How do these cues play? Is the "feel"...

Letting kids play on my table

My kids each started playing as soon as they could reach the table. When their friends are over (and we know all of their families), they're permitted to play as well. There are simply certain cues that are off limits, and I check out how they play before I leave. I've done worse on my table...

    Table Markings?

Resurrecting this thread. I don't think I even want to put a foot spot sticker when I re-cover my table, since the balls roll differently over it. Am I alone in this?

    Any tips for a beginner?

The OP's question about whether to work on things as a prelude to getting into 14.1 vs. shooting 14.1 as a means to improve got me thinking about what I have been doing. Capelle mentions that straight pool is largely a game of 90-99% shots, meaning that should be the probability of making each...

    Help moving table upstairs

I don't suppose there's any place to connect a pulley at the top of the stairs, is there? Or perhaps add a counterweight out a 2nd floor window and slide the slate up the stairs that way?

    Any tips for a beginner?

I would have a very difficult time running a couple of racks without knowing how to approach the rack in phases, what to watch for, etc., and I am capable of running a 9 ball rack. I haven't actually run two full racks, but I was able to finish a rack, break and run, and make my break shot on...

Any way to repair a shattered buttcap?

Thanks. I'll be swinging by to let the local guy have a look. First quote from him was the same. Nothing to lose.
