Billiards is Food for the Soul

So sorry to hear that. My best to his family and friends. I had the pleasure of meeting Don, but didn't know him well. Never heard anyone say anything other than good about him. Jennie, you still need to come to Raytown Rec someday.

    Playing pool with progressive lenses

I was worried when I got my first pair of progressives. After about one minute on the table playing, my first thought was "why didn't I do this sooner?" Nothing but improvement for me.

    Fs- big nitti/ebony/ivory/segmented burl handle

I had the pleasure of playing with this cue for a few hours the other night. It has a really nice hit to it -- not too stiff, not too soft -- and is very well balanced. If I wasn't so attached to my own segmented-handled wrapless Carmeli, this cue would be on my short list for sure. Thanks Bob...

    2016 BCAPL Naationals

I'll be there, playing in the Gold Division Team 8 Ball. Hope to go further than last year (although we did manage to win one of the single-elimination second-chance brackets).

Hypothetical Matchup: Kirkwood vs. Bowman....Who You Got?

Here's a little video (not ultra-HQ) of Jesse beating McMinn (9-5, I think) at the Midwest 9 Ball in Olathe about 5 years ago. Total match time, including racking, less than 28 minutes. Don't blink while you watch these guys. :) http://www.pool4u.com/video_watch.aspx?ID=178

    Glasses and pool

I've played with glasses (nothing specialized for billiards) for the last 25 years, and am so used to it I don't even notice it. It's all a matter of getting my head in the right spot. I got my first set of progressive lenses a few years ago (I'm nearsighted), and was worried what it might do...

The most impressive pool playing that you have ever witnessed?

For me, some of the most impressive pool I've ever witnessed in person has to be the $3,000 entry 10 ball ring game at Shooter's in Olathe, Kansas in July 2007. I don't remember all the players who played, but the field was impressive. Here's a few I do remember: Buddy Hall Dennis Orcollo James...

What is your favorite pool memory of 2015?

Attending my first Mosconi Cup. Followed closely by winning a team second chance tourney after getting knocked out too early at the BCA in Vegas.

Las Vegas AZber's or recent visitors to Vegas ?????

Was there for the Mosconi Cup, and went to the Cue Club, Pool Sharks, and Good Timez. Thought the Cue Club was kinda ratty, but ok I guess. Good Timez is fine, if a bit generic feeling. Both have Diamonds.

Are they going to do a season 2 of hustlers?

The one and only reason poker on TV took off like it did is the hole card cam. Without the ability to see the players' hole cards, no one would watch. But that "insider knowledge" gave televised poker the edge it needed -- at least to anyone even casually interested in the game. Pool doesn't...
