Standardised Rail Response Test - is there one yet ?

OK - this is interesting - yes, hmm... I just need to work out how hard I am hitting the ball when I do this test. (I'm hitting at pretty much my max power - but it may or may not be more than 20MPH) I think that smartphone break app may be of use to get an idea of my average max break speed -...

    9-Ball question

Question: Can you hit ANY object ball during a 'push out' ? (legal push out - declared immediately after the break) I normally dont hit any balls during a legal push out - but just wondering... to be sure, to be sure... Thanx Cheers.

    9' table room sizing

    1. The light was already in the right spot for this orientation (old 8 foot table) 2. The current orientation allows the room to be multipurpose (got 2 very young kids) 3. Figured it wont be a problem that happens often (not enough space to draw cue back) 4. Always had plan B in mind for...

Standardised Rail Response Test - is there one yet ?

Thanx guys - lots of good info / ideas. I like the idea of the ramp but its too slow methinks - cloth speed would massively affect the result between tables (unless we all had clean, new 860 - apples would be apples) The BCA spec is fine - but what is a firm stroke exactly ? (not very...

Standardised Rail Response Test - is there one yet ?

After all these years of technological developments in pool - why isn't there a standard (non-subjective / non-variable) test for rail / cushion response ? Maybe its not really relevant / important at the end of the day ? I like the cloth speed test (Bob Jewetts ?) - 7 seconds from rail to...

Stretch marks on new Simonis 860 ?

Hi All, thanx for all the input / info. I'd love to give a copy of this DVD to my installer ! How can a colonial like myself (In Australia) get my hands on a copy ? My installer spent like 2 hours putting the bed cloth down - round & round, side to side, un-staple / re-staple - stretch more...

    9' table room sizing

I've got 55" from nose of cushion @ head & foot rail to walls (yep - squeezing in a 9 footer !) Plus the jutting out brick piers near 3 of the corner pockets. Hardly ever bump the cue (using 54" cue) but cant draw back much on those close to rail shots. (only had the table 2 weeks - got a 50"...

Stretch marks on new Simonis 860 ?

Sweeeet - my installer told me they would fade - but he's a bit of a hack so didnt really believe what he said... (why is he a hack ? He didnt level the 3 slates properly before sealing with bondo was the biggy... also clothing around the pockets wasnt the best - getting some minor...

Stretch marks on new Simonis 860 ?

Hi All, Are stretch marks normal following installation of new Simonis 860 cloth ? If so, will they disappear in time ? Its only cosmetic - but looks kinda weird. The light seems to reflect off the un-even stretch of the weave / grain of the cloth somehow... It looks like the cloth is bubbled...

    8 Ball Rules?

Not in Australia - unfortunately - but as they say - dont go to a bar if u want a serious game of 8-ball. BCA / World Standardised rules are the best to use IMO. Other house rules / local rules are just plain silly in some instances. Cheers.

    9' table room sizing

Correct. I kept a rough track of how often I needed to play perp. to head or foot rail with CB on said rail before deciding on a 9 footer instead of an 8 foot pro. It is very rare indeed - but maybe more so for me as I have no restrictions on side rails, just the head & foot rails. But for...

    9' table room sizing

Switch to a 54" cue - I did to enable fitting in a 9 footer at my place - so worth it. If ur a tall dude maybe 54" cue wont suit - was ok for me though, I'm just a 5' 7" shorty ! Cheers.

    UYLIN Cushions / Rubber.

Hi All, Any comments or experience with this brand of rail rubber / cushion ? Does it come in different profiles ? (K55 / K66 or other ?) I *KNOW* I have this brand cushion rubber on my table - but dont know anything else about my table except that its cheap & made somewhere in asia. (The 1"...

Artemis cushions and Simonis 860/860HR on a home table

My table has got cushions / rubbers with the Uylin stamp. Is this really good quality rail rubber ? (or average at best ?) I would like my rails to play a little more lively than what they do. (I can only just make 4 rails hitting from the head string at break speed down the table - minimum pro...

    A,B,C handicap system for 9ball

How does this get applied during gameplay exactly ? Player A (Pro) Player B (Novice) Pro is spotting the Novice the 8 and the break. So Novice breaks... Play as normal until someone pots the 8. If the novice potted the 8 - he wins the rack ? (Is this correct ?) Thanx Cheers.
