A Little Help With Math Please

Your chart and everyone else's calculations don't answer the question, that's a fact. Therefore, at best, it's misleading and practically useless. My opinion is that this fact warrants the end of futile attempts at answering the question, because it can't be answered. We all state opinions...

A Little Help With Math Please

You agreed it was useless for practical purposes, and on top of that it doesn't answer the original question. So.... ya I guess add it to the list of useless information that I don't think is worth talking about. I think I made that very clear.

A Little Help With Math Please

That's debatable, since I only took a minute or two. Why an old chart exists in the first place is beyond me. Then there are the other posts in this thread with detailed math that obviously took more effort than it was worth. Exactly my point.

A Little Help With Math Please

I don't understand why you are all wasting so much time calculating results that are pretty much meaningless. The results would only be significant if it actually showed the difference between making a ball and missing a ball. You can't possibly do that, because you are leaving out all of the...

A Little Help With Math Please

Well that's ironic. You're trying to measure margin of error by only looking at the angles that have the least error.

A Little Help With Math Please

Oversimplifying it a bit don't you think? What about the speed at which you hit the shot? If the angle to the pocket involves hitting any part of the rail, speed affects whether or not the ball drops. Also, the felt and rails affect those angles as well. Balls tend to slide in off the rail...

    11-7 is not a domination

It may not be domination, but it wasn't close, and it was an easily predictable outcome, unfortunately. On top of that, it isn't easily comparable to previous years, because you would expect USA to do much better on home turf, with a home crowd. That makes this result even more disappointing.

    Europe wins Mosconi Cup

Really happy for Shane. After struggling all week and losing his other two singles matches, with all the pressure of being USA's top player and leader, he would have been destroyed mentally if he had lost that last match and the entire cup for USA. I can't imagine a better result for Shane's...

    Europe wins Mosconi Cup

I was extremely impressed with Skyler. I watched all of his matches, and I can't recall one instance where he missed a makeable shot, or messed up a run out when there weren't complications that forced safety play or breakouts. The only errors I recall him making were kick shots, safety play...

    Mosconi Cup Commentators

They had a really hard time calling people by the correct name and calling the balls by the correct number. It was especially irritating today when the entire match between Karl and Shane, he kept incorrectly saying that they played each other yesterday and Karl won hill-hill with a 9 on the...

    Europe wins Mosconi Cup

Albin beats Skyler 5-4. Skyler did virtually nothing wrong in the final racks. He played a perfect safety, Albin made an amazing kick that won him the game. After the kick, he played a good safe, and with no extension left, Skyler was forced to play a jump shot really quickly, made a great hit...

    Mike Dechaine is focused!

I know Mike can play good pool, but he's really the only player you cringe every single shot because of the way he strokes the ball, and the fact that he can miss any kind of shot extremely badly. He also has a tendency to put himself in positions where he has to slam balls to get position...

    How about Skyler!?

Now that you mention it, I did see one of those. I missed the other two. He still hasn't missed a ball though, unless I'm mistaken.

    How about Skyler!?

Really impressive. After two matches, I haven't seen him miss a single ball. The only errors I've seen were a scratch on the break (which could be attributed to luck), and bad position on the 9-ball once (which made no difference because Bergman made the tough shot on the nine)

I'm guessing not because innate confidence was a personality trait.

    Confidence in Pool

I think you are confusing confidence with arrogance.

    Confidence in Pool

I believe this entire post reinforces the fact that everyone in this thread has a different definition of the words being used here. If someone has the ability to play lights out, but isn't able to do so under pressure, confidence has nothing to do with it? If confidence is trust and belief...
