    First Case Build (In Progess)

Hey all, first post in a very long time lol. Just wanted to share some pics from my first attempt at a cue case build, which I started last month due to being stuck at home. I wanted to try something original, but I figured I should play it safe and just stick with the standard cue-case style...

Two things I don't understand about snooker

I used to put chalk on the rail when I first started playing snooker, but the table is huge. It's both annoying and embarassing to spend half your time walking around looking for chalk and I ended up not chalking unless I absoulutely needed to because its a hassle to keep walking back and forth...

How often do you have your 314 ferrule replaced?

Never changed in 15 years of use. Are we supposed to? Maybe that's why I can't make a ball.

Why do you love playing billiard sports?

I don't really understand this... all you have to do is practice a shot you're not good at and if you can bump your shooting percentage up even just by a few points, you're immediately a better player than you were before. Once you reach a certain level, there are very few leaps in skill and all...

    Is this wood "cue worthy"?

Reminds me of olivewood, which is one of my favorite handle woods. I personally think they would make beautiful cues.

Pulling out short break butt out of 2x4 ??

Foam tube works great. I put a styrofoam cylinder in the bottom of my case when I had one of those short PowerBreak 2 break cues. The problem is I'd always forget which hole had styrofoam in it so I'd try to stick my player in there and it would stop halfway down!

OB Cues has a new product

It's fabric headwear that wraps around your head and chin with a loop under the chin where the cue slides through to keep it centered to your head at all times. And it also doubles as a jihab! (I'm just wondering how you fixed the problem of trying to walk around with a cue attached to your...

I'm the guy who was going to help him get some information out there in English. I'm not sure what the reason is, but I haven't heard back from him for a while. Must not be a priority I guess...

Low deflection back to solid maple? Have you?

Another thing I noticed switching between the two types of cues is that a level stroke works better with LD shafts, whereas for standard shafts shooting with slight elevation greatly increases consistency, especially on shots with sidespin. (Maybe it's just me, though.)

Low deflection back to solid maple? Have you?

Yes, I switched back almost a year ago. I think it's improved my game in most areas, but the only thing is I find firm shots with inside english are much more difficult and not as consistent, so I try to play for shape where I can use center ball/outside english as much as possible. I still...

What is the Strangest you have won gambling at pool

I once played a tournament in Japan where the third-place prize was a giant bag of rice. I ended up winning it and tried to give it to my buddy who was with me but neither of us wanted to carry it home on the train. We ended up playing with the stipulation that whoever lost would have to carry...

    Rolling The Cue Ball

I'm the opposite, as I started out mostly playing golf on the snooker table and was a pure "cue ball roller" for a long time until I finally learned to play with a punch-style stroke. Going from one to the other was tough, because cue ball speed affects the amount of contact throw so I had to...

    Help understanding this?

I think by "grip pressure" he might be indirectly referring to wrist action. For example, using a firm grip which stabilizes the wrist for limited action and control, as compared a looser grip allowing the wrist to snap for shots requiring a lot of force and action.

Where should I go to become a Pro.

I go to Hakata on business once in a while and play at some of the main places when I'm there. They are very spread out over a large area but there are a few really good players around (almost no pro players, though). The pool scene is extremely quiet compared to Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto, with some...
