I'm playing Efren Reyes race to 8 one pocket tomorrow even up!

I will be streaming it on my fb page under Jesse Gilbert - Lavere. Hopefully Pov pool will be there to record it too. I'm excited. Not really nervous but we will see. I'm glad I have a Steve lomax cue to point the way.

Do we have to be FB friends to watch?

Are you the guy with the "straight shootin' Jess" cue bag?

Get some buddies to set up a chess game on the next table over...
I guarantee he'll be distracted!

Just pay him a grand for a ten sec gig: have him sit in a chair with his stick while you shoot a straight shot on the 9. Then shake his hand. Ask some friends to clap in the background. Now that footage can be worth something 👻

**** that I'm running 8 and out on his ass with his game winning ball in his pocket

For 1K even vs Efren playing 1p.

Enjoy the donation.

It's a lot, but nothing makes you better than playing better players. 20 years or so, I got good by playing Jay Swanson at $2 a game, then for $5 a game letting him know that he was going to win $100 and nothing more. When he eventually told me that it just was not the worth all the time it took to get his $100 I know I was a pretty decent player. All the practice in the world would have done nothing. Now $1000 is very rich, but if he can afford it, then it will help his game and certainly be a life long memory.

Quick story: I knew a guy at my local tennis club who was a columnist at a major newspaper. He was one of the best players at the club, say top 5.

One day he manages to land an interview with Bjorn Borg, 11 slam titles including 5 consecutive Wimbledons... you get the picture. The terms were that they would play one set of tennis and then they would do the interview. One thing: my friend asked that Borg not take it easy on him. Just play to win as hard as possible.

My friend the columnist is receiving serve first. He's good enough to know that his only chance is to get some clean winners. On Borg's first serve, he returns serve hitting the ball about as hard as he could for a clean winner!! That was the last point of the set that he won. It was over in 10 minutes. :sorry:

But don't think about that when you play Efren!

There's a famous story about Borg after he retired. He played at a club in Monaco and there was a decent player there that Borg would play. Borg always won, but the other game always took a couple games, sometimes 3 or 4. So he gets impressed with himself and invites some huge number of his friends to watch him "compete" with Borg. That day, he lost 24 points straight.

Jesse,
The best lessons are paid for. I did the same with a local road player. I paid him 60 a week for a good while and when it was over I was beating him some and I went to playing another guy I wasn't donating to.

I'm jealous, Efren is probably the one person in world that Id love to talk to for a long time.

God I envy you.

Do you speak Tagalog?

I would video the whole match, so I could review the match, over & over. That kind of review will allow you to learn something that is worth the $1000.00, maybe more.

Race to 8 one pocket at California billiards in Fremont. I'm a b+ player and trying to step up my mental game every shot will be important and look forward to making the best of it. I will stream it on fb live starting at 2pm pst

Congratulations !!

I would do the same thing if Mr. Reyes ever comes to Texas.

He could beat me 11-5, however there is much more honor in
being able to say you played him straight up.
