u dont need a lathe to replace a tip.but is sure a lot nicer to do with a lathe.i have a deluxe hightower and a southbend 40" metal lathe.

talk to your cuemaker monday night i shot with a cue i made for a customer a few years ago.it had a slightly harder hit than my other cues.same construction,joint,pin,wood,ferrule and tip.we work with wood and wood is not always the same.i made a nice cue for myself and it hit horrible.i mean...

lol, thats got me laughing i made a few milk duds when i was done i feel i created a new tip.i am going to call this tip a triangle.yes thats it i will call it a triangle.that was my experience.

master chalk tan/gold been using tan ever since i got a table with tan felt.a lot of my friends use it now because your shaft will stay or look cleaner.i make cues so i can clean my shaft anytime i want but still use tan chalk for that reason.

i recommend the deluxe,spend the extra and get it i love my deluxe,very user friendly for someone who doesnt know a metal lathe.add that plus u wont find a better man to deal with.always returns calls.never too busy to help. and so on.the other guys, i dont know about cause ive only dealt with...

pretty neat bat i like the idea but,turning down a bat to cue dimensions would take a very long time.bats r usually ash and i dont think it will stay straight but as long as you are in no rush and understand that it may not work give it a try.

never used sealer always just sprayed straigh clearcoat never sealer.does it make a big difference?id like to know myself

depends on what u have now stoney i assume you have a cue lathe because u cant cut threads.i have a hightower and a metal lathe. love them both.dont really need to cut threads to build cues so i would say planer.i love mine .great for points.then bandsaw.but its what you need the most right...
